Nov 24: 42 Programs Paused due to Covid. Izzo Tested +; Minnesota paused work outs, now back. Rest of Power 5 to do Daily Testing? 21 Day Quarantine?

The season will not and probably should not happen at all

indeed. Nothing should happen ever again until we can eradicate the deadly virus that has a 99%+ recovery rate. As long as we have “cases” (even if they’re false positives) nobody should be allowed to do anything. It’s just irresponsible. Like drunk driving, right? Right?

Do your part. Don’t just wear your mask. Stop breathing altogether.

A lot of football games being cxl'd, postponed, moved this weekend because of Covid. Basketball is going to struggle with this too

Hopefully he doesn't get it too badly. Has to be scary for these older coaches that get it.

He's being dramatic to prove a point. With the standards in place (that players must sit out if they test positive, whether or not they have any symptoms), then cancellations are going to happen. There is no "stopping the spread" of a contagious viral illness. It has spread everywhere in the world, not just the United States, and it has spread regardless of the level of mask-wearing or level of lockdowns.

Basketball is attempting to play as best they can. Best of luck to them.

This is simply not true.

It should be easier to contain amougst a group of 15 players then 120 though don't you think? On top of that with the later starting then football many of these college kids have already been exposed, just as at Iowa. I don't forsee the same kind of issues for basketball, but we'll see......

Slowing is not stopping, doesn't mean it's pointless.

I would have thought that, given the current state of the virus in this country, the downplaying of the seriousness of the disease would be over. Over 100,000 new cases every day along with 1000 deaths. These are American citizens, not just statistics.
They don't care.

Pretty pathetic.

80 new cases a day, and that’s a surge from 32 last month. Still not bad. Distancing and masks work.

Still feel like it'll be a big ten only season last second and they'll do it in a bubble since the school will be online eventually im assuming

That’s simply false. Wearing masks and social distancing can stop/slow the spread. We have idiots in this country as well as throughout the world that are acting selfish in not adhering to safety norms with COVID.

Who is acting selfish? Me? Everywhere I go, face coverings are required. I do it as I want to be able to go to the grocery store or get my car worked on. Where I live large gatherings are prohibited. People all wear masks when outside their homes. And we have a record number of cases locally. So what is happening? We were told if people wore masks and social distanced the virus could be whipped in 6 weeks.

People aren’t practicing social distancing or refusing to wear masks. Those are the selfish people. It’s that simple. It could be with family and friends in homes or at many large gatherings we’ve seen over the past couple months across the country. I flipped to the ND Clemson game the other day and was amazed at how many people were in the stands, some with masks and some without. We have to be better than that.

Just go to a bar on gameday.

Things probably won't go smoothly, but there is still a path to have some semblance of a season and an NCAA tourney. I'd like to have seen a modified bubble plan with a series of tournaments allowing teams to play several games in isolation. No spectators on site; essential team personnel only. It would be nearly impossible to replicate what the NBA did, unfortunately.
It allows for more potential exposures if they try to play it closer to BAU with more frequent travel to different cities and campuses.

We have a (edit, new case ) rate of 4 per 100000 in SF and that is largely due to the fact that everyone here wears masks for the most part. It does work but you need everyone to buy in.
Luck you! Here in Iowa we have many losers that don't mind the deaths and ruined lives.

I’m not. I’m pointing out the fact this thing is not great all over the map. You’re trying to make everyone miserable on the basketball board. Stop it.
No I'm just saying when it happens, it'll be because of people like you. Just like many deaths are on people like you.....
