Just to give people something to vent about... ISU has 3 potential 4-Star basketball recruits visiting this weekend for the Iowa football game.

This from the Ames Tribune.

For those who say the new guy can't recruit ... we shall see.

Although there's definitely better things to talk about than ISU visits, I'll bite. The three coming in all have pretty decent offer lists. Having said that, I don't see Iowa competing with ISU head to head for many recruits. Prohm's zone is the southeast, so the guys he's recruiting hold offers from the Alabama's, Arkansas's, SMU's of the world. Not saying one is better than the other, just seems to be what the scenario will be.

Iowa State's lead recruiter T. J. Otzelberger has strong ties with Wisconsin and Michigan so the South isn't the only area the Cyclones will be scouring for recruits.

Half your posts are about Iowa State. Why don't you at least keep it to the off topic board.

Speaking of dumb and dumber too, clone fans would feel the same if a hawk fan updated their boards with IA's recruits, that's why they make it inclusive while it's free here.

So? The topic is made obvious by the thread title. If you don't like, don't open it.

I think the wording in the first post may have struck a nerve. As far as I know, no one has been claiming that the new guy can't recruit. And, with the Iowa/Iowa State football game coming up this is probably a good week to expect some irritability. So Tim was probably right, this gives people something to vent about.

OK, I bit. Folks at CF posted a picture of two guys that visited (not three).

The tall one is Eric Curry. He may be a potential 4-star (aren't we all?), but Rivals has him as a 3-star. By the way, he is a strong Arkansas lean according to many sources:

The short one is Darrion Strong, another 3-star (potential 4-star) who followed up his visit to Ames with an immediate commitment..... to Oklahoma.

The word is that there was a 4-star guy scheduled, named Romello White. But he cancelled and is considered a long-shot.

I don't know if Prohm can recruit or not. In all fairness, it would be a lot to expect for him to have a big haul in this class due to the timing of his hire. But this weekend's visits don't do a lot to prove anything. And as far as "potential" 4-stars, I think Iowa has successfully recruited 9 of them over the past 2 years, with a "real" one visiting this weekend.

The post was made in response to the numerous comments to the effect that the show will soon be over in Ames.

As for the 3rd guy, from a tweet it I read on Bleacher Report it said he had to cancel and is trying to reset the visit.

I reported what the Ames Tribune writer stated.

Most of these guys don't play in Key West. So I posted what others have said. I don't know if they will be a future 2-3-4-5 Star.

Nor do most on this Board.

Who cares, 1 more year and Iowa overtakes ISU, the amount of talent Iowa has lined up coming this decade will put them in great shape to make some deep runs in March. No castoffs on the roster either.

Still don't understand the rationale or necessity of posting Clown news on a Hawkeye board. Know how it would be logically received on CyFan if the reverse was true and it wouldn't be pretty. Shouldn't expect any difference here.

Info re: UNI, Iowa State and Drake, as well as Iowa is relevant conversation. Thanks Tim.

I'm sure he's hoping that Emmanuel will be his savior.

Malou would be an incredible pickup for Prohm, lots of things say ISU is the leader but with Kansas involved I'll believe it when I see it. Sounds like he's announcing today

I have a feeling there really isn't a Kansas offer on the table. No KU site reported an offer to Malou.

Rivals lists it. If I had to guess it would be committable offer for Spring for Kansas but who knows. Arizona offered too and those type of schools are pretty selective on JUCOs. Either way with him and Jackson on board it would look like a really good class so far for only being September

Still KU sites haven't reported it which is weird. His whole recruitment has been weird. There is talk of him being the best JUCO in the country but no service has him rated. He looks legit but what kind of competition is he playing against? I did see where there were NBA teams that watched him play last year at YUBA.

Was definitely the oddest recruitment I remember. ISU has been recruiting him for 3 years and apparently it paid off because he announced he's coming to Ames

Yeah it looks like Jakolby Long might be the next one to commit to ISU

I am curious to see if he is ever eligible...

...on second thought, both Davises stayed eligible through 4 years of college at IA State. This kid will make it through one.

Why wouldn't be he eligible?
