O/T... ISU Recruits This Weekend...

What exactly are you laughing at?

Alright, let me spell it out for you. At this moment, for those who get into rankings, Iowa is a hairs breath behind Iowa State for 2016 and when we get Cook that should find the roles reversed. And as to locking down the state we've got the best players committed in 2017, 2018 and when his Mom says he can commit, 2019. Granted two of those three are McCaffery's own kids but hey, can't fault Fran for taking talent whether it be his own kids or those of someone else. Wieskamp, mind you, will do just nicely.

You might notice by the way all three are at least a four star level recruit.

With that kind of future in front of us. With the top three players in the state in 2016. I believe that we have more than reasonably shown that the High School ranks in Iowa are firmly in Hawkeye hands.

Meanwhile, you've got a new coach in Prohm who seems to be clinging to the Juco contacts established by his predecessor. More power to him, best of luck, but I've seen enough pretense as to "this is the #1 Juco", or, "This Juco point guard is fantastic", to know that Clone fans are clinging to hope like the last unbroken rail of a rope bridge. The claims don't measure out with national media. They are taken piecemeal the best one can find. And that, (welcome to the board by the way) Iowan555, is a recipe for a huge letdown.

I predict that this season, if it measures up, will be the last in a while for the Cyclones to celebrate. And in fact with a new coach, if it were me, I wouldn't be ordering the Bubbly just yet.

Bottom line. You Clones had your run. Nicely done. It's looking to me like it's winding down.

Last I checked the calendar said 2015. Congrats on those 2019 recruits though. Who knows what can happen by the time 2020 and beyond rolls around. Heck Fran could be long gone by then. Who knows.

I find it a bit ironic you're tooting your horn about 4 star recruits 3-4 years down the road and then follow that up by saying ISU's run is "over" after this year.

ISU's projected 2016-2017 starting lineup:

Monte Morris 4* SR
Matt Thomas 4* SR/Donovan Jackson 4* JR
Deonte Burton 4* SR
Emmanuel Malou 4* JR
Going hard after other forwards.

That's a pretty solid core of that 4 star talent you're tooting your horn about. Question for you...how many four star players does Iowa have lined up already for the 2016/2017 year? Is zero the correct answer?

Congrats on the possibility of landing Cooke. Color you embarassed if he goes elsewhere. You seem extremely confident though. Good luck. Last I checked ISU is still recruiting players as well. With a top ten team this year and a senior laden group it should be a great recruiting off season this coming year. Who knows maybe we might just stock back up on some more four star players : )

Well, I've let it go until now, but the first thing you need to do is learn to spell names correctly. It's a giveaway you don't know what you are talking about. ;) The second thing is, you don't get to make up 4* recruits, or pick and chose what service is rating them, not and then earn any credibility with me. Malou and Jackson are unranked 3*'s by just about everybody.

And of course, you are projecting lineups. If you replace Prohm I'll consider your predictions to be based on more than guesswork.

And yeah, color me embarrassed if Cook goes elsewhere. I'll save the paint for you when he doesn't. And, McCaffery leaving? Now you're really stretching things. But that's ok, that's what Clone fans do when they come on a board named, "Hawkeye Report".

Look, the odds are quite reasonable that Prohm will not continue the success that Hoiberg enjoyed. And watching Iowa State fans with false hope (Four stars...everywhere...a beautiful sky......) is giving me more laughs than you can imagine. With Hoiberg gone, with all these Jucos, if you don't fall apart this year I strongly suspect next year you will.

Uh oh the spelling police. Study up on the difference between choose/chose and come get back to me there smart guy. You're brilliant.

You were the one that wanted to talk recruiting and future lineups. I simply listed out the next couple of years for you. Clones have two more NCAA appearances in them on paper. Not so sure I can say the same for Iowa. Hey though a tournament appearance or two every decade is A okay though Fran is the man! We will see ya in December.

Jackson is a four star. Malou is an unknown I promise you he will be a four star when the updated rankings appear. 100%.

Yup, well, you're the one who responded about recruiting with "this is 2015". o_O So there probably isn't much talk left in you. Take a break until the Iowa game. I'll be watching several games before I even begin to think about the Clones. This, has been a gratuitous little attempt at talking you and your way too high hopes cousin/uncle Clones family members down to reason. I really don't care if it works or not, just kinda feel bad for Prohm that the expectations are so high.

Yeah, and just last season at about this time isu was destined to be a Final Four team... until powerhouse UAB came along and spoiled destiny once again!

UAB truly thought isu was as elite as clone fans think they are.

The UAB thing had to be embarrassing, but consider what ISU did doing the reg. season, finishing in the Top Ten, beating KU 2 out of 3, while doing so winning the Big 12 Tourney. Not so bad. We would have been happy with that.

Perhaps you, but I do not think you should assume others feel the same way.

There were no qualifiers when fans/pundits were extolling how good isu was likely to be in 2014-15. Tourney champs? How many times have we read/heard how worthless tournament championships are whenever Iowa has won the same? Remind me of how well KU fared when it truly counted last March.

The fact remains, it is way too early to know anything about how this team or that team might do in the upcoming season. But, because, for the majority of the isu fan base, football is now over for 2015, it is on to telling the world how good the clones will be 190+ days from now.... on paper!

Ha ha how in the world is it "too early" to know anything about the ISU team? Most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. Other than a couple of newcomers I know exactly what to expect from them. Thanks for the insight though.

I don't really get the comparison between ISU and Iowa recruiting lately. ISU did struggle in 2015 with Fred leaving, but Fran also had another pathetic class.

As of 2016 (According to 247) ISU has the 25th best class in the nation (2nd in the Big 12) with an average rating of .9021. Iowa is 37th (8th in the B1G) with an average of .8566. Pretty clear who has a better class so far.

Iowa can keep signing all these Iowa kids, but as history has proven, unless it's a Barnes/Paige/McDermott type of player these kids aren't good enough to get Iowa to a level where they are competing for conference championships.

ISU will have a higher ranked recruiting class than Iowa for 2016. Malou and Jackson are 4* recruits (247) and they still have plenty of scholarships to give out. Iowa getting Cook might put them ahead briefly but based on volume ISU will end up on top

Not accurate. The only four star listed for Iowa State according to 247 is Malou. Cook is ranked a 96+ by 247 while Malou is a 93. And keep in mind, that's the ranking service you picked.

This is what I've been saying. Many Iowa State fans pick and choose what looks best and then fall into some kind of malaise thinking everything shiny is precious. Yes, when Cook commits Iowa should move past Iowa State. You may make it up with your last three scholarships, but you may also end up with glorified rankings and players that never even see the court.

With the lead Iowa has on State down the road...(fact, whether you want to keep your heads in the sand or not)...you best hope to enjoy what could be a decent year, things are coming to an end Lil' Brother.

Iowa State has been the better program each of the past five years. They will be far better this year. They should also be better in 2016-2017. The future is bright for you though with those HS freshman recruits. Iowa State is sitting nice as well I heard Steve Prohm has a 1 year old boy who is looking pretty good he will be ready to roll in 2032.

247 doesn't do composite for JUCOs, Malou is a 93 on the 247 specific rankings (Cook is a 92, Jackson is a 91). There are 108 HS players with a composite higher than Malou and let's face it, there isn't 108 HS players better than him. I would guess both Jackson and Malou end up 4 stars on Rivals though, Malou for sure.

I don't think ISU will have a huge drop off like Iowa fans hope/expect. They will most likely end up with a top 25 class for 2016 and I like they got two JUCOs at a position of need.

I just looked at 247's rankings and only Malou was a four star. You would guess....let's face it....you don't think....they will most likely....

Wow, just, wow. o_O

Jerry Meyer posted an article when Jackson commited that said four star guard commits to Iowa State. Says in the article he was a 91 composite. You are wrong and I don't even care enough to locate the article. Hey at least you guys got your two star Iowa boy fall back recruit though right?

Eric Bossi said Jackson will be in heavy consideration for a 4th star depending on his play this year, Malou looks like he will be a 4 star when updated but you never know. Just my guess. Both are 4 stars by 247

Bud, you jump the map like a flea pretending he's a world traveler. Go look at 247's team rankings. Only one of your guys is ranked a four star. And yes, that is the ranking that 247 uses as it's selling point, not what you linked.

Click on Iowa State. ONE four star player. Now look at Iowa and think about what happens when Cook commits. And this is YOUR favorite site. Things look worse for you on other sites. I can understand a little "homie" hopeful baloney. But you come on here and you and your buddies start mouthing stuff about being way ahead of Iowa in recruiting...I call bulls..t!

Historically, we don't even know if some of your reaches will even end up suiting up! As to Malou, you want my opinion? Somebody better teach the kid to pass the ball because that playground stuff isn't going to work against anybody who plays defense.

Im not sure that he actually had a offer to KU or not. I follow KU basketball religiously and there was never one mention of this kid. Sometimes kids like to name drop schools. Its kind of like Kobie Eubanks supposedly picked Alabama over KU. Once KU took LeGerald Vick, Eubanks didnt have an offer left on the table but he still name dropped KU.

I will say the kids video looks legit but I dont buy that he had a commitable offer from Arizona or KU but more of a "wait until spring and if we have an open scholarship we want ya" type of deal.

ISU will have a higher ranked class in 2016 than Iowa. Tyler Cook is a really good pickup for Fran though, wish ISU got him. I'm really happy with Jackson and Malou though. Prohm's recruiting has been better than I expected

Yeah, a 91 composite THREE STAR. As to calling Bohannon a fall back two star? Just a big fat lie. The only reason he shows up as a two star is where he hasn't been evaluated yet.

Yeah, like your offers to Isaiah Moss and Joe Wieskamp. You will be wishing you got some of these guys. But keep being thrilled by your three star Juco.

Any Iowa fan I know would have rather had Jackson instead of Bohannon, I would think the honest ones on here would agree.

We have seen this movie several times before. Wayne Morgan stopped by to say yep isu never has a fall off after having a great team.

Of course UAB agrees with him.

Wait clone fan clings to a myth? Naw that would never happen. Then again clone fans love to cling to the SOS myth. They will never let that one to. Despite how bogus it really is.

ISU has two 247 rated 4 stars but the team rankings use composite scores and they only have one composite 4 star.

I think the only thing dumber than arguing about which recruits are most likely to be good college players is.....well, I'm not sure anything is dumber than that.

Yet that is exactly what clone fans are left with. Since fooatball season is already over. Now where is I4 touting the isu women's cross-country team? The Directors Cup says isu is a cross-country school.

Sounds like another billboard for Pollard.

I think what's dumb is that a thread concerning recruits that ISU hosted weeks ago is up to 3 pages and currently the busiest thread on the basketball board.

No apologies to those disturbed enough with the length of a thread to read it and then respond about it. When Clone dolts make mention of Iowa State's recruiting being WAY ahead of Iowa's, I feel like responding.

Notice how for being so WAY ahead, Lil' Brother ended up digging into the rankings with a fine tooth comb looking for anything to make his case?

Now, continue to complain away how long this thread is, in September, when there isn't much else going on to post about anyway.

Again, your brilliance is off the charts! Does the link below from Jerry Meyer himself say three star or four? Hmm... I don't know why it is so hard for you to admit Iowa State landed two great recruits. If you guys land Cook (without an "e") I will be more than happy to admit he is a good looking player and great recruit. He' be the first heralded recruit for Fran since Woodbury/Gessell. Hope you guys get him!

Also, if your main man J-Bo hasn't been evaluated yet how did he end up with a two star rating in the first place? Are they just handing out two stars like candy now? Someone clearly evaluated him. Fact of the matter is he is a 5'10" 150 pound spot up shooter who had zero other high major offers. Just the facts. Hopefully he blossoms into a nice player for you but yes...he was a fall back option.
