Obama tells Baton Rouge: 'Thank you, New Orleans!'

President Obama wrapped up a town hall in Baton Rouge, La., on Thursday by thanking "New Orleans."

"If you want to see change, you've got to make it happen," the president told those in attendance at McKinley Senior High School in Baton Rouge, the state's capital.

"When I ran for office in 2007, 2008, I did not say, 'Yes I can.' I said, 'Yes we can,'" Obama said in his closing remarks. "God bless you, love you. Thank you, New Orleans! God bless America."

Obama was holding the town hall to tout efforts during his tenure and urge voters to stay involved in the presidential election this year, part of his post-State of the Union road tour this week.

Reason #7564637389 why nobody will ever take a criticism of Obama from the GOP members seriously. You made your own bed, GOP. Enjoy laying in it.

OMG! He mistakenly called them a city an hour away in the same state?!?! The outrage! How many died as a result?

If George W. Bush had done this you guys would have had a field day with it and you know it.

If GWB would have said it what Obama did, it would have ranked in the "Top 5" smartest things he ever said during his Presidency. Everyone had way better material for GWB than what Obama said.

Frank Caliendo and Will Ferrell pretty much made a living making fun of GWB.

To be fair, Baton Rouge gained population of at least 100k after Hurricane Katrina, and I'm sure that was mostly from New Orleans. So Obama was probably just referring to the New Orleans roots of 50% of the crowd. Or something.

Fred, you seem a little bitter today. Bad day?

Baton Rouge is without doubt the ugliest town I have ever visited. And I have never seen more police cars. I'm sure there are nice parts of town but I failed to see them.
