Maryland did not set the world on fire and if we get anything from Uthoff, we likely win that game. The anger management case Duke transfer played his best game of the year and we made Carter look like a lottery pick. No beef with MD or their fans. Turgeon is a pretty classy guy and there wasn't any trash talking or bs play. Maryland has depth and size and will be a tough out come March. Trimble (note proper spelling) is one of the best players in the country, so no shame in losing to them at home.

I attended the IOWA at Maryland game, a couple years back. From that visit, I've dubbed
Maryland's fans, THE WORST in the Big10. And last night buttressed my argument to that end
Should've read some of the comments posted by MD fans on the ESPN article about the game.. Iowa has no talent, none of their players would even play on MD's team, MD would win a rematch by 20-30 and were just lucky MD couldn't shoot last night (even though Iowa had an uncharacteristically bad shooting night too) and you get the idea. Talk about arrogance.
Every school has quite a few idiot fans, who think their team is way better than the opponent. Maryland deserved to win last night. Both teams couldn't throw it in the ocean, so it is hard to say how a rematch would turn out. Watching Iowa shoot bricks, I can understand why their fans think we aren't very talented. Most didn't see Iowa beat MSU or Purdue or Michigan...
Not to mention that if the best they can do is "you are ugly", that means there's not a lot to talk about. I remember student sections at Iowa rattling keys at Deon Thomas after the Bruce Pearl-Blazer incident...that one is right off the top of my head. This was nothing. If it's the whole arena, then it's a bit more annoying, but it's the student section doing student section things. They also chanted obsenities at officials which just about every student section ever has done.
Us Maryland fans know your team is very talented. We know they beat MSU twice, as well as Purdue and Michigan. It was a close game, our team came out on top, and who knows who will come out on top next time. Not me, I'll tell you that...
IOWA would win by 20, if they played at CarverHawkeye this year. Kind of same as last year.

I've been to both states (live in Iowa), and have known lots of people from both states. And I've heard lots of people from Maryland---and various other east-coasters---that now live in Iowa say that they are glad they made the move (esp those with young families). The next time I hear someone from Iowa say they are glad they moved to anywhere in Maryland will be the first time.
I kept trying to spell it "Trimble" but my stupid spell check function kept making it "Tremble" and I didn't notice until after I posted several times. Technology, not all it's cracked up to be.
Ever been to Baltimore? A dump. Totally unfriendly citizens. Maryland? Lock your doors with triple locks. Lock your car doors. Basketball in Maryland? Dirty play. Been that way for MANY years. Coaches struggle to keep their thugs out of jail and on the floor. Street ball reigns in Maryland. If there were no officials, the game would turn into fights from the tipoff to the final buzzer. Dirty players and filthy loud fans. They actually think they are great fans! They really try to be thugs in the stands and revel in it. The people in Maryland are now and have always been low class, lawless, thugs. Armpit of America. Ever check their teeth? They're missing their front teeth because of the fights since first grade. Look at the NBA. Thugs. NBA equals no basketball association. No officiating, gang fights on court. Maryland? Visit there and you will be happy to escape to anywhere. Live there? Good luck with that. Watch your back.
WOW! I'm glad you told me this. I guess I will forget about going back and visiting the friends we left when we moved back from that horrible(?) place a few years ago. I had no idea. I guess we should be glad we survived those 8 years we lived there and commuted through the areas of the District that we should have lost our lives every day. And, living in the Eastern Shore, Baltimore, along with Annapolis served as our city, so we somehow survived evenings and weekends.
Well, let me tell you, Maryland is a beautiful state. Its major problem is the large number of redneck idiots.
LMAO!!! Wow, butthurt much? Whatever you may claim, no one sees Maryland as a having a "large number of redneck idiots." If the national perception of Maryland is wrong, blame the LameStreamMedia as all they report on is violent and drug related crimes when they're not trying to inflame ethnic tensions by pushing the "black vs white" angle.
Very good post. Somebody from Maryland in an earlier post referenced the Confederate south in the light of having a bunch of hicks. As I've written many times here I grew up in Iowa, spent several years in Southern California and have settled in the south. The reality of life on the Florida/Alabama border seems somewhat different to me than some of the perceptions people have in other parts of the country. We tend to slide down a slippery slope when we generalize and cross over into becoming judgmental. Great point about how we need to filter media influence.
