Odd Purdue Stat

Purdue leads the B1G in 4th down attempts at 33, over three times per game. They have converted 17. That's 11 more than Indiana, the next highest. Not sure what this stat means. I'm guessing that they feel like they have nothing to lose. Hawks will have to be on their toes.

I noticed that as well. I assume they just figure they might as well go for broke and take some risks in an attempt to close the talent gap. Maybe they feel like they have no chance just trying to play straight up so they have to take some chances.

This is the correct answer. Hazell has no faith in their field goal kicking game. So they go for it virtually on every 4th down from "fg range". They have kicked like one field goal in conference play I believe.
