I think the key to whether Iowa has a successful season relies heavily upon our ability to generate explosive plays. While sustaining drives and milking the clock through a ground and pound strategy is effective when you are playing lesser opponents, we saw the painful ramifications of relying upon that startegy too heavily in games like Purdue, Wisconsin, and Penn State.
While I understand the benefits of time of possession, and the horrors of trying to stop a physical team from imposing there will against you. Against more talented fronts, you need to attack them and counter their aggressiveness. Hopefully we will be able to achieve this through a more developed passing game and perhaps a coordinator who trust his QB a little more. I like think both are likely.
I think the offense has real potential to pop this year. Compliment it with some corners who can guard and a Dline that could get to passer and we might be looking at a good season.
