***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Bueckers has a good mid-range game, and that should translate really well to the WNBA. Curious to see how things go for her in the additional college season. Another injury might open the door to a different #1 pick.

*Running a fast transition game is certainly possible for other teams, but as the Indiana team has shown this year, that transition can be difficult and painful. It takes a buy-in and commitment from the team.

*Watching some Iowa highlights from the last few seasons. Seems crazy because of what she is already doing, but there is definitely a higher Clark level she hasn't yet found in the WNBA. There were games played at Iowa where even her heat-checks were snapping net. Imagine those type of games are still ahead for her going forward.

They are both great, but I'd kinda like to see Kelsey win POTW.

Not trying to diminish KM but many of her points either come directly or indirectly from CC.

She also has les than 2 assists per game over the season.

CC overall just does MORE.

With that being said, the girl has been shooting lights out and is one of the quicker ball handlers I think I've ever seen.

It really isn't possible at the pro level without the right skillset on your roster. The Showtime Lakers don't exist without Magic pushing the pace and runners like Wilkes, Cooper and Worthy running the floor to dish to. This Fever offense doesn't exist without CC and teammates willing to run like Mitchell, Temi, and Lexi. Then you pull in Boston when you have to go half-court similar to Kareem on the Lakers. One of the other keys of the Showtime Lakers was the break was often started on a rebound by Magic who could just take off on offense. Sound familiar when the Fever have the best rebounding guard in the game?

But, in terms of other teams trying to replicate the offense, look at how many turnovers CC is averaging when she's likely the most skilled passer in the game currently. Imagine a less skilled player trying to do what she does. That person would average 10-15 TOs or more per game and the offense wouldn't happen.

Paul Westhead coached the Mercury to a championship in 2007. Too bad he's 85 years old because the things he could do with this lineup could have been amazing. Although the lack of defensive coaching probably would bite this roster hard. But, if this team can figure out the PF position and get some better quality backups at guard so that CC and KM can get 5-8 minutes of bench time per game, watch out.
Thanks for bringing up Paul Westhead. Sure was fun to watch his team fly up and down the floor and score at LMU.

Stephen A. Smith says Caitlin Clark is the WNBA Rookie of the Year AND is in the conversation for MVP (he says A'ja Wilson will win it, however).

Wilson's going to win it easily, and deservedly so, but CC has played her way into my opinion top 3, and if she keeps it up top 2 by end of year. Wilson has been absolutely incredible and also efficient lately. What I find interesting is while The Aces had 4 players on the Olympic team I believe? besides Wilson I'd take Caitlin and Mitchell any day of the week over anybody else on the Aces right now.

Hopefully CC makes first team all WNBA, too. That would be an incredible achievement.

I remember earlier in the season people and pundits both were comparing CC’s impact with MJ (as well as other superstars in their rookie seasons) and asking “why isn’t CC making the team better? Where are the wins?”

Well take a look now. It’s pretty freaky actually. The Bulls pre-MJ in 83-84 were 0.329 winning percentage. The Fever last year were 0.325. That’s amazing those two are nearly identical. MJ improved the Bulls to 0.463 and a first round playoff appearance/exit. CC is on pace to lead the Fever to better than 0.500 (not a given, but conditions are favorable), and who knows how far in postseason? MJ finished 1st in scoring and 21st in assists. CC will finish 1st in assists and currently sits 9th in scoring. MJ finished 6th in MVP. CC should finish somewhere in top 5. The parallels are uncanny. CC has the potential to out-Jordan her impact in virtually every measurable.

Oh, but Angel has all those double doubles…

Again a random note on my parents. In their 80s in pinehurst NC who don’t hail from Iowa and only spent 4 years here in Iowa. My dad said people in NC are talking about her nonstop. I think “Caitlin” is a household name for every day people. Crazy.

I hear her name all the time in Colorado. We don't even have a WNBA team.

The funny part is, when people say CC is in the "MVP conversation" and CC haters get all butthurt about it, they're just showing how stupid they are because they don't realize its a tiered voting system. So when CC ends up getting 2nd through 5th place votes, she'll be "in the conversation". Haters and uninformed (aka Swoopes). Love it

The Wings are being handled at home tonight by the Mystics. Arike is ice cold, only 1-7 from three for 3 points total. 🤦‍♂️

The Meg gets the start.

Kate in the game!
I realize I’m going to jinx it, but the Aces haven’t gone even a minute of this game without a Hawkeye on the floor. They’re up 25-13. Meg with great defense, Kate with a pretty assist and a steal.

EDIT: Kate hauled in a nice rebound that led to a transition bucket, and now Meg is back on.
