Wow!

Probably been stated dozens of times, but just imagine if all those missed layups on a pass from Clark had been converted?

Likely another 40/50 assists for the season!
I remember when we were contemplating Caitlin in the WNBA and it became apparent she was going to Indiana.

I said, "Welp, it looks like I'm a Fever fan. Who's on our team?" Another poster, think it was @QChawks, responded to the effect "Doesn't matter, in the WNBA players can make layups." I didn't disagree. I think everyone expected that.

Just kinda funny in hindsight.

I have to say there were a couple shocking things about the W for me that I learned as I went. The first was all of the missed layups and bunnies. I thought the best in the world would be absolute technicians with skill. The second was how most teams play a watered down version of Knicks/Pistons in the late 80s and 90s. I had always heard how the women's game was beautiful with crisp passing but it was boring and gross to watch for the most part. The way Iowa played was so much more entertaining, and now the Fever play that way as well. Who knows, maybe Caitlin and the fever will spark a new style of ball favoring speed and skill over bully ball.

Good points.

But we were forewarned, so to speak, about how physical the league was. And unfortunately it is and that's to the detriment of the artistry some of us may have been expecting, and it is gross.

My take ... the established stars just barrel into the lane, throw up trash like Jewell Loyd underhanding an off-balance stumbling shot, and go to the line over and over.

Meanwhile, on the perimeter, defenders like Canada are doing body body cavity searches on Caitlin. No whistle.

Great! Physicality!

I think that's why a lot of Iowa fans got labeled as 'Racist' and 'haters'. We had this idea in our head that if Martin, O'Grady and Stuelke could catch these passes on the run from CC at Iowa, the pros should make it look easy. Then we watched the first 5 games and were like "WTF, why can't these players run the floor and catch the ball." CC was racking up the TOs and 'certain' people were calling her out for being overrated and a bust. So frustrations were vented on X, with Mitchell and Boston probably catching most of the flack, but also Wallace and KLS for not being able to shoot a 3. Temi had it figured out early, but then injuries derailed her for the middle half of the season. Then the schedule calmed down and they actually had time to practice and learn playing styles and what worked for different players. And now look at them.

They could have put Caitlin on the cover in a burlap sack and had way more interest than having Angel on the cover. It’s Marketing 101 and they failed. Some of these business execs need to go take a few refresher courses at Community College.
Dude, your always trying to put me on the opposing side of your comments. I'm NOT disagreeing that CC22 would be a better option. Never said that, but if you don't think that Reese posing for the swimsuit issue gave her a leg up on future coverage in the mag, then your the one who doesn't understand how it works. And again I think its great that CC is in a position to be selective of where and under what circumstances she allows her image to be used. She doesn't need SI which in its own way becoming about as not relevant as ESPN....

What do you all think about the playoff pressure this young and inexperienced Indiana team will be thrown into for the first time?

I think Indiana is in a very unique position as far as young teams go. Perhaps unique in all of sports.

Because of the phenomenon of Caitlin, she and her teammates have been in the eye of the storm all year long. Every game a sellout. In this electric, high visibility setting the Fever, and especially Caitlin, have received their opponent's best effort every night. There's only 94 feet on a basketball court. They can't guard Caitlin 194 feet or in the parking lot, for as much as they would like to.

Then throw in that in the away arenas half the crowd may be pulling for Indiana. Lol, I think that could unnerve a lot of teams, even Coach Two Shits and her club.

I think the pressure could very well be greater on these veteran teams. Thoughts?
Just that I think 194 feet would be in the locker room. Maybe they SHOULD start guarding her there though..Lolol...

Yeah, Mitchell for example looked like a baseball player being flat-footed on bad hop to short. Now she's like a heat seaking missle tracking down a CC heater.

Or how about KLS looked like Dwight Clark going up for "The Catch" ... but only got two inches off the surface and Montana's pass sailed into the endzone.

Yeah, I'm comparing Caitlin to Joe Montana 🤪 .

Does anyone else realize that O’Grady and Goodman probably deserve an apology from Iowa fans? There was a lot of grumbling on the not being able to handle passes from CC. Now we realize they did a better job than professional with the rockets by Caitlin.

My take ... the established stars just barrel into the lane, throw up trash like Jewell Loyd underhanding an off-balance stumbling shot, and go to the line over and over.

My first impression was highlighted by disappointment. After seeing play, I concluded that college ball was better than this. And then, I knew why they get paid what they do. CC coming in has done wonders for the W, and her play alone is forcing others to step up their game.

This last game, I'd like to see the starters play 25-30 minutes, as folks spend a lot of money to see Clark and the Fever. I hope Sides doesn't get too cheap with the minutes.

I wasn’t disagreeing with you….i was actually agreeing with you. It wasn’t you I was disagreeing with, it was the morons at the magazine.

Sounds a lot like how White played at Iowa, but he kept it a bit more interesting by dunking more often.

Remember folks Lexi has a twin sister who is just as good a player. She just decided to start a business career instead of going the WNBA route
I knew she played at Stanford also but just figured she wasn't good enough for the W. But, given the W's payscale vs her Standford sheepskin probably a good decision then.

Wonder if when the players renegotiate their CBA she might change her mind?

Can someone explain the W playoff structure? Who will the Fever play 1st round? How many games?

Here you go.

All 12 teams play their 40th and final regular season game tonight.

Where the Playoff matchups currently stand:

FIRST ROUND: All higher seeded teams host games 1 and 2. A third game, if needed, would be hosted by the lower seed. Indiana has their work cut out for them, whether they play Connecticut or Las Vegas (they have to win at least 1 of 2 games on the road in order to get a potential deciding game 3 in Indy).

5 of the 8 seeds are set in stone.

The Quarterfinal Matchups:

#1 New York vs #8 (Atlanta, Washington or Chicago)

#4 (Las Vegas or Connecticut) vs #5 Seattle

#2 Minnesota vs #7 Phoenix

#3
(Connecticut or Las Vegas) vs #6 Indiana

All they need to do is enforce freedom of movement and hand checking fouls - rules already on the books - and the league would be instantly improved. Sorry Griner, you no longer get hit/elbow people in the head. Sorry Dijonai/Canada/Laney-Hamilton/Jackie Young, you don't get to hand/body check guards. And if you do that flagrant non-basketball play you’re out of the game
