***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Will voters really keep Sabrina Ionescu off 1st Team All WNBA?

Last month, ESPN writers projected who they thought would make the First Team All WNBA team. Sabrina was the only guard they listed as 1st Team All WNBA. Caitlin was on their 2nd Team.

In an updated vote, ESPN writers voted Caitlin Clark as unanimous Rookie of the Year and Unanimous 1st team All WNBA.

I think it's pretty easy to argue that Caitlin is currently the best guard in the WNBA.

This is Sabrina Ionescu's 5th season as a pro. This is Diana Taurasi's 21st year as a pro.

Caitlin leads Sabrina 8-0 in the 8 categories below.

Atlanta (14-25) beat Chicago (13-26) 86-70 tonight.

As a result, Atlanta is now the #8 seed and Chicago has dropped to the #10 seed (and currently out of the playoffs).

Which is hilarious because just a short while ago, one of the owners of the Atlanta Dream got on her podcast and was ranting about CC fans/stans being toxic...............

Sometimes you just have to sit back and let the world work its magic.

There are no games today. All 12 teams play their 40th and final regular season game tomorrow.

Where the Playoff matchups currently stand:

FIRST ROUND: All higher seeded teams host games 1 and 2. A third game, if needed, would be hosted by the lower seed. Indiana has their work cut out for them, whether they play Connecticut or Las Vegas (they have to win at least 1 of 2 on the road in order to get a potential deciding game 3 in Indy).

5 of the 8 seeds are set in stone.

………………………………………………….

#1 New York vs #8
(Atlanta, Washington or Chicago)

#4 (Las Vegas or Connecticut) vs #5 Seattle

………………………………………………….

#2 Minnesota vs #7 Phoenix

#3
(Connecticut or Las Vegas) vs #6 Indiana

Was there anything shared as to why Carter, Cardosa, and DeShields all were unavailable for last night’s game?

As pointed out in this thread before, there isn’t enough top end talent in the WNbA to support more teams IMO.
The only thing would be if there is a bunch of untapped talent sitting over in Europe that will come after next season when the salaries all get bumped up with a new CBA. But if the W currently has all of the world's top players, yeesh, I agree.

Listed in order of priority -

1. Re-sign Kelsey
2. Trade Nalyssa - nobody on Fever staff can coach her; let some other team have a wack. If not traded she goes in draft and Fever get nothing
3. Sign best #4 free agent available
4. Sign a #2 to come off bench to play D & shoot. Someone that is already coming off bench so as to avoid drama. I love Kia Nurse here.

This is just Satou Sabally's 5th year in the WNBA. She was the #2 overall pick in 2020. I doubt Dallas has any plans of moving her. The 6'4" forward is averaging 17.4 pts, 6.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.3 steals this season.
Smith and Fever 2025 #1 plus 2026 #1 for Sabally and Dallas 2025 #2.
Done!

I thought she will be an unrestricted free agent? I guess the can do the supermax 1-year thing.

  1. Agreed.
  2. Agreed, and I'm okay with her being left unprotected for the expansion draft.
  3. Agreed.
  4. I think we need #3 more. It may be that some of these moves can't be done until 2026. Assuming Caitlin remains healthy and can attract talent, I think they will win the title in 2026.

If you look at the NBA, it's not about top end talent. It's about spreading the wealth, and bringing access to more markets.

Also, I'll push back a little bit on the top end talent, because we're just starting to see the shift with this year's rookie class. There is a growing wave of great players that will be coming up in the next several years and they will deserve roster spots in the pros, or at the very least, more room to sit behind vets and grow and develop their game, rather than be blocked out by the old regime of gate-keepers.

The game is not only growing, but also evolving above the slow, rigid, cat-fighting clown show that it was for most of its existence. CC is at the forefront of making this more of an uptempo league. Teams will need to adjust or get left behind, and the fact is there are gonna be more rangey players like Caitlin coming up in the future, than there are monster bigs like Griner or even Cardosa.

If the Fever don't acquire a guard that can pressure the ball, the defense will continue to limit the team's success. Right now Clark and Mitchell play 3-4 feet off the ball. No other team in the league does that. The Fever do not have a single guard that can disrupt the opponent's offense flow and tempo. We need a guard that can dish out a little of what Caitlin's been getting all season.

The Fever's perimeter defense may be the worst in the league. If that's not addressed, this team goes nowhere. I love Nurse because she's big and strong, 28 years old, and shoots well. Her brother is a total NHL badass.

We have a great offense now. Hull can fill in fine #3.

So you propose letting Mitchell go?

Good Lord - where did you come up with that. I already clearly stated re-signing Mitchell was the #1 priority. I also stated we need a #2 to come off the bench. So I'm not following this at all. Nurse is big enough to fill in at #3 too.

So this is cool ...

🤮

The once proud SI basically stooping to trolling. Along with AR and CC there are apparently 6 other WNBA connected women in the top 50. Lol.
How bad at business does someone have to be to put Reese on the cover instead of Clark? I thought the idea was to attract more customers.

Okay, so it seems all you Caitlin fans need to shape up cuz this is NOT your league and "y'all ain't like us (the og)."

Nothin' like a WNBA OWNER calling out millions of fans, telling them to go away. Yeah, why accommodate people when you can live just fine near the poverty line on NBA welfare checks.

I'm not exactly hanging on your every word and post. I just saw you saying our guards suck at guarding and we need big signing there. Whose minutes would this this defender take?

So are we Stans or fans?
