I was totally confused about the Wallace comment. She isn't a good shooter or defender.
Hull is those things.

Weren’t the Fever over cap and had to cut somebody?Below i copied and pasted how it works, apparently. Essentially, if they can sign a vet for the league minimum + 42k (about 120k total) unless there is another trade involving wallace.
First, this needs to be upvoted more to get it to the top as it answers the most pressing question of how the buyout affects the cap situation.
Second, I don't know about this move. Let's assume that they bought her out for the difference between her current salary ($180k) and a league minimum vet contract ($76,535) with the expectation that someone would pick her up for that price and she'd have a better opportunity at another team than the Fever. That would mean that that Fever incurred $103,465 in dead cap to free up $76,535 with no player to show for it. Put another way, the Fever valued KLS at less than a league minimum contract. While I don't think she was worth her contract, I think a 6'3'' floor stretching wing that is at least above average on defense is worth a league minimum deal. It also doesn't look like KLS was the one wanting out of Indiana. Even combined with the $42,419 in space, it only adds up to a hair under $119k. That's not a ton of money.
I wonder if this is a precursor to trading Wallace for a 2nd round pick (which would get them up to a hair over $200k. If they did that, they'd be able to sign a vet for ~$136k and still have room for their other 2nd round draft pick or Jaelyn Brown (each $66,079) with 11 on the roster.
They can go with 11 players, so yes, they would have had to cut brown if they didn’t work something else out, just because of the cap. They still might cut brown if they can’t get rid of Wallace. They realistically aren’t going to draft someone at 18 or 19 that will make an immediate impact. So they it makes sense to me if they get someone to take Wallace plus the draft picks in exchange for a veteran big or draft picks. And then maybe cut brown in any event if they can land an expensive vet, and play with 11 this season. But then again I have been repeatedly surprised by the new front office, in the best of ways. So who the hell knows…Weren’t the Fever over cap and had to cut somebody?
I think players can voluntarily work with Caitlin. Who knows, maybe a good chunk of them are working out together now?
I quite enjoyed that. Thanks for finding it.
I was thinking who she would compare with in the men’s game. I was thinking pippen. Not too shabby.I still can't believe they got Bonner.
No way Paige is staying another year. Her and Geno have run their course. Shes not winning a natty, and I think she’s tired of Geno. She’s done all she can at that program for that ass.I see Betts is staying another year partly to play with her sister but I bet it is also about the rookie contract. By waiting a year she will probably make 50%+ more than what Clark will get in her 3rd year. Another reason for Paige to stay another year.
Geno needs to go away. He's dumbing on Paige every time they lose.No way Paige is staying another year. Her and Geno have run their course. Shes not winning a natty, and I think she’s tired of Geno. She’s done all she can at that program for that ass.
Maybe she hits the portal and comes to the Hawkeyes. Kidding but maybe she does transfer to delay her contract for the new CBA and avoid Dallas. No way Paige is staying another year.
