Iowa punishes Davidson and Fran get the Hawkeyes their first NCAA tournament victory since beating Creighton in 2001. Iowa 77 Davidson 55.
I'm making a prediction on dunks not final score just because I want to.
White: 3 (one alley-oop from Gesell)

Iowa will win this one I think. IA is too big inside for them & Davidson is too one dimensional. Give Fran 5 days to prepare for a team with a couple of glaring weaknesses like that & I really like our chances.
My concern is that the Hawks have lost 6 in a row on a neutral court and are averaging 58 PPG in those six games.. Getting to 75-80 based on trends could be tough.. That being said this Davidson talk by the media is way overblown IMO
Hawks play well when they don't have expectations, right? I'm pretty sure the talking heads are lining up against them, but the fans here sure seem to expect a win. As does every sportsbook.

Lot of people seem to be very confident that either Iowa plays outstanding D or Davidson has an awful shooting night. I expect this to be a high scoring affair. Davidson score 80 a game but don't really play D. I want to believe Iowa can keep up, but I could see this going similar to ISU. Thinking Davidson 81, Iowa 74. Hope I've got this flipped.

I truly believe that Iowa will come out playing the type of basketball that we saw prior to the B1G tourney. Drawing Penn State in the first round was unfortunate, I think after all the tough luck games PSU went through during the season, AND losing to the Hawks just prior to that gave PSU a lot of self motivated momentum. Davidson has had trouble shooting on the road, and especially in larger, professional arenas. I think Whitey and Gabe will be huge, igniting factors Friday night and we'll see a game similar to what we saw in Indiana. I'm glad a lot of people are predicting a Davidson victory, that should light a fire in Iowa and their play will reflect that.
When I think about this game, we win going away. Then I get on this site and other places and I think we lose to a better guard oriented team. We have to play big, rebound and we are going to have to make some 3's. I think it's a close game that we win 75 - 69
