Obvi my lack of contribution in the last game thread almost cost our beloved HAWKS. I send my condolences as does Mrs. Scent. That's the last time I put coitus in front of my HAWKS. Anyway let's plow ahead - we got a tough one on the road against Penn St, who mind you, beat Indiana, the same team we lost to. We gotta be focused and ready to go from the tip - no messing around. We have to finish, I repeat, we have to finish, if we want that 1 seed with a Des Moines to Chicago bracket at stake.

KEYS:
- Punch em in the mouth off the tip and get in their face on D
- We need bench points - I'm looking at you Dom, Baer Trap, BE, and A-Dub
- Get out in transition and get some easy buckets
- 2 Blocks out of Uboat
- No driving from Money Mike - Just facilitate, Mike

IOWA 77
Penn St 69

Go HAWKS!

Agreed... A fast strong start is key ... Establishing our rhythm and early scoring from JU (since PK kicks off 2nd half with 7-10 straight points) ... Woodbury rebounding like a fiend ... Sapp playing like MSU and his bros are on the court ... And Mike G engineering an offensive geared on feeding the hot hand ... Also think the young bench should be instructed to have fun and play (they ARE kids, after all...)

Regardless of outcome, love watching these Hawks - proud of their effort - fun to watch - and hope Fran stays for at least one Final Four ... Go Hawks...!!!

Eww, Scent. TMI.
Iowa should win this easily, but they should have beaten Minnesota at home more easily than they did. If they come out half asleep like they did Sunday, they could lose.
I'm looking for them to get their mojo back for Penn State, knowing they have a week to rest afterwards - we'll see how it plays out.
GO HAWKS!

^^^^ We are very tired but so are they. This is why we got in such great shape last summer. Woody, Jok, Wagner and Uthoff will be the guys who we notice in a ten point win. 65-55 or something close to that as neither team shoots well. Mike and Sapp will defensively turns the lions into kittens.

The great part is we'll see Nebraska win at Indiana and have only one team left on our heals.

Nothing easy about this game. They will be fired up and believe they can win, especially after beating Indiana. Getting points from Jok from the outside and Uthoff from the inside, should be very important. Expect Sapp to snap out of a little funk and the bench to be pretty fired up. Woody could have trouble in this game, which won't be good. Hawks by 10, the spread, 75-65.

We must be watching different games because Sapp isn't in any sort of funk. In addition to playing remarkable defense, he's shooting 51% and averaging 12 PPG over his last 8 games. He's playing the best, most consistent ball of his career.

It seemed to me he was missing some shots he has been making. If he is indeed shooting that well, I stand corrected. I still contend we need a big game from him, along with most of his friends, to win tonite.

I share your sediments and glad you have the stats to back it up. Anthony Clemmons has been playing great basketball. I luv his ability to take it to the rack with confidence and not get rattled on the oppositions home floor.

You are sharing his "sediments" ?

I'm glad to see you sharing your sand and gravel with GT. Good for you. There's no room for selfishness on this board.

Did a little digging and found out something very interesting about Clemmons stats. I used the ESPN game logs so hopefully this is accurate. Clemmons has shot 4-26 from 3 at home 15%. He's shot 18-44 from 3 on the road and nuetral site games 40%. Just found that interesting. 4 made 3 pointers at home all year. That's crazy.

I wouldn't say Clemmons is shooting that well lately though. Last 4 games are a little lower on your percentages. He doesn't shoot from outside and when he does of late it's been at about his season average which from 3 is 31%. Has he been getting to the rim and finishing? Yes. Has he made a lot of layups in transition? Yes. Making layups is helping the shooting % you are touting but does that mean he's shooting well from the outside?

shepp Garner 0-19 on 3PT FGA last 2 weeks. 2-2 3PT FGA tonight.

Shep Garner going to have another unreal game just like the B1G tournament last year. He is turning into a guy that really annoys me.
