Did you watch the game moran? Drake did everything they could to lose the game in the last minute. Controlled a defensive rebound but threw it away trying to rush up court with a 4 point lead and the ball under a minute. Then give up the 3 and then miss the front end to give WS the chance to win? Yeah if Frans kids did that we'd never hear the end of it...
I wasn't impressed with what Drake did on the offensive end at all during the game.
Look, Wilkins had the guy wide open on that pass. Yes, he should have kept it. The 3 pointer came because of the whole scramble. And you blame DeVries for an 80% free throw shooter missing a 1 and 1? Coaches job is to get ball in their best players hand at the end of the game. Which he did. The guy just won Drakes 1st tournament game in 50 years. Go piss up up a rope. I’d take him at Iowa in a heartbeat.
Drake is missing their 2 leading scorers. Not sure how well Iowa would do without Garza and Joe W.
Joe Toussaint missed 2 free throw in the Minnesota game where we game up 2 threes and a layup in the last 40 seconds and Fran was vilified. I'll keep Fran, besides they just gave Devries an 8 year deal, so he knew to stay in the little fishbowl for now...
I am just talking about the type of sets they ran. Hemphill was able to play today.
At the end of the half UCLA hit a jump shot. Two Spartan players were arguing and it looked like Izzo and the player argued and the player walked away which pissed Izzo off.
Hemphill played 10 very limited minutes. He’s their best player. Best defender, leading scorer. He’s coming back from a broken foot. Otherwise Sturtz has to play the entire game. And they still won.
