Ogundele

His size and the amount of space he takes up on the court is so disruptive to the opponent. I hope he can continue to develop as a defender. Any offense he contributes is just gravy.

I was loving the big O tonight but dang he is out of shape. After a couple trips up and down the court he was gassed. Hands on the hips, slow jog, taking some plays off. He has to be one of the most out of shape bball players I have seen outside of my noon league games at the gym. He is immovable in the post though even if he can't jump. He will give Iowa a good 5-7 mins a game.

We will see what unfolds this year with Mulvey and Josh, but I am underwhelmed with both thus far. Josh remains a big body with a very limited skill set on both ends. The expectation isn't 15 and 10 but the low bar of 'If he can just come in and give Rebraca a breather' needs to be raised. I am pulling for Josh and have from day one but his transfer portal stunt was bullshit IMO as was his justification for it.

I have no idea what to think about Mulvey only getting mop up duty. Is he actually further behind than Josh? Where did the progress go Fran touted over the summer? The flip side could be Mulvey has taken a step and Fran is getting Josh some PT to see what he is capable of. Unlikely, but I guess it's plausible.

Neither Josh or Mulvey need to be spectacular but both should be able to contribute something at this point.

We have two bodies to give our center hopefully 7-10 minutes of rest. Anything more than that is a bonus. I’m not sure at this point what they saw in Mulvey but I have yet to see it. He certainly looks happy to be there….almost goofy.

I’ll take that bet. I think you will see a steady dose of him in the Big.
Ok, let's first define what consistent is for our bet.

7 pts, 5 reb, 1 block. Seems like a consistent line a B1G 5 should achieve in 15-20 minutes of PT.

It won't happen because JO can't make it 15-20 minutes.

Wouldn't be the first time Fran was hyperbolic in describing a player that wasn't consistent with game performance.

So you think he should average a double double over 30 minutes of play?! My God, those are some unrealistic expectations.

I was thinking more in terms of just minutes of play. I think he will get 10 minutes a game. I’d have to think about points and rebounds more before trying to project those numbers.

OK, how about 5-3-1. I still do not think he would get it. Last night is about as good as he can be IMHO.

I am in the camp of I need to see more from Josh before I trust him or think he can be a consistently valuable player ... however, I agree with you that he will probably play 8-10 minutes a game because a) he will be needed to spell Rebraca/Kris and b) will be needed against some teams with a bigger front-line for his size/beef/physicality and c) it looks like Mulvey didn't make the jump many of us were hoping/assuming he was going to make from last year to this year and unless he picks it up, might be a complete non-factor.

Against better competition, my main concern with Josh is can he not be a complete negative offensively. He has a tough time catching the ball and every time he tries to dribble in the post, it is a TO waiting to happen. Also, his ability to play more than a few minutes in a row without getting exhausted is worrisome.

But if he can come in for 2-3 minute spurts 2-3 times a game and provide a big body and play D and rebound, I guess anything more than that is a plus (as long as he isn't turning the ball over and being a big negative offensively).

Agree with most.. think he'll give us some good minutes in short spurts. Him not getting up and down the court due to conditioning will hurt us at times though.. that was one of the things I liked seeing from Mulvey.

People trying to back down and lower their shoulder in to JO and him not moving at all is one of my favorite things

At 10 minutes a game I think 4-2-.5 would be very respectable. That translates to 16-8-2 over a 40 minute game.
