Ohio schools give students surrender your rights cards

I guess I fail to see how training children to trust/obey law enforcement is NOT setting up all of those concerns later in life.

Are you thinking we give them a real class and brochure on our rights when they get older?

If the concern isn't over safety of the children re: police, what is the purpose of the cards?
Exactly. There's a huge difference between teaching kids to be respectful and civil, and teaching either reverence for or submission to authority.

America wasn't founded on a reverence for authority or on any kind of program of submissiveness. People who want to get America back may want to remember that.

Not saying that kids should be taught to hassle cops. Not a good idea. But unless you are a white male and preferably a businessman, don't automatically assume that when a cop stops you and starts asking you questions and telling you what to do that he has your best interests in the forefront of his mind.

OTOH, kids should be taught to feel free to approach cops for assistance. That's a different situation. Although it probably still helps to be a white male.

I recall once we had an unruly customer who felt she wasn't being treated well. At one point she said she was going to complain to the cops. So I called the cops for her. A few of my employees wondered why I would do that. I told them "the cops work for us, you'll see." And that's the truth. Cops may not consciously be aware of it, and might not express it that way, but they work for the establishment. And businesses are part of the establishment.

If they choose to have a poor attitude during those interactions, or more likely than not be a repeat offender, then eventually actions could escalate on either side and we could have a problem.
.

are you saying that someone knowing and exercising their rights and not allowing your car/home to be searched, or waiting for a lawyer before you say a word, etc is exhibiting a poor attitude?
