Ohio St-Nebby BTN Plus Broadcast

I was watching the BTN Wrestling in 60 show this week and I was really impressed by the BTN Student U broadcasters for the Ohio State-Nebraska dual. Both casters showed good knowledge and sounded professional.

I know we tend to rag on the students who do these broadcasts from time to time, so I thought it was worth giving credit where credit was due.

One of the "students" was JD Bergman (I agree that he did a nice job)

From the many BTN plus school broadcasts I've watched and heard, Iowa is the only school that doesn't have a former alumni or student of the sport at least analyzing the action on the mat. It's painfully obvious.

Bergman is probably my favorite to listen to. Super savvy in wrestling info, obviously, objective for the most part, and explains things for casual fans to understand. I'd like to see him at the NCAAs instead of Robles.

I think McDonough has done one before - he seemed to know a thing or two about wrestling. He actually talked about how hard it was to finish a TD on Clark - once you get the leg...still a battle.

Really? Never heard him on there yet. He'd be a good one to do all of them or Ramos,Metcalf, etc... Hell, just grab someone from the first few rows at Carver, and chances are they're a former AA or lifelong fan with more than enough wrestling savvy to color commentate. Just some of our past announcers on there have been like nails on a chalkboard. This is Iowa we're talking about here!
