Oil prices rise on fears that Iran may strike production facilities in Saudi Arabia

Yeah the Saudi oil fields can burn as far as I care….why should we help them? They put us to the fire every time….sounds like this is a problem Iran and Saudi Arabia should sort out themselves.

Frankly we should pull out of Saudi Arabia completely

Unfortunately if the Saudi oil fields burn the world will be in a massive recession real quick with $200 a barrel oil...

There's a reason Joe went there on bended knee to get them to pump more oil.

It is what it is...

Alaska alone has more oil than the entire middle east. It doesn't have to be this way.
True but we aren't building refining capacity and we aren't going to maximize our fossil fuel potential so it's a moot point....for the foreseeable future the world needs the Saudis to pump that oil.

Three words solve this Iran/Saudi issue and much of our inflation issues at the same time. "Drill baby drill".

And, here they are on bended knee needing the US to defend them. Joe should pull a Trump and tell them that they need to do him a favor.

I agree. Sounds like a Quid Pro Quo though. That's impeachable in some parts :)

F’em

going to be awesome in a decade when electrics are so good even the rednecks want them. These Arabs are screwed and civil war will happen. Their society is way too oppressive to have anything resembling a modern economy.

link
As of the end of 2018, the Middle East holds 836.1 thousand million barrels out of the world’s total proved reserves of 1729.7 thousand million barrels of oil, according to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2019.
The region holds 48.3% of the total proved reserves on the planet.

Unless the rest of global reserves are located in Alaska, you're mistaken.

Proven reserves are quoted above. There are also unproven reserves and probable reserves that are not included in the proven reserves category. Technology advances in oil recovery will level up the unproven and probable reserves (fracking for example).

Take this link with a grain of salt but it says the US has the most overall oil reserves:

Ranking nations by the most likely estimate for existing fields, discoveries and as-of-yet undiscovered fields (proved, probable. possible and undiscovered), the United States is at the top of the list with 264 billion barrels of recoverable oil reserves, followed by Russia with 256 billion, Saudi Arabia with 212 billion, Canada with 167 billion, Iran with 143 billion, and Brazil with 120 billion

Alaska alone has more oil than the entire middle east.

So actually just two countries in the Middle East have more estimated reserves than the entire US, much less Alaska.

Well if we are adding nearby countries, 431billion for US and Canada vs 355billion for the Saudis and Iran.

You’ve proven the original assertion regarding Alaskan reserves being larger those of the Middle East is incorrect.

Once you add in Iraq, Kuwait and UAE the Middle East still has more reserves than all of NA, much less Alaska.

Are you suggesting the government should be in charge of oil production?
They already are. The government can shut down or increase capacity through the regulations and permitting process. You want to build a new oil refinery? Not going to happen if it can't make it through the permitting process of an unfriendly government.

Jesus, you can't just jam it in there and expect positive results! These things take patience and time.

Your way checks the box and allows you tell all your buddies that you got it in, but the land... she's not going to give what you really want unless you play the game and make sure to care for her during and after the deed.

The Saudis doesn't want the revolution spreading to their country
The 5000 or so kitten soft princes of the House of Saud have spent decades pandering to, and funding nut jobs. They are petrified of their dogs getting off their leashes, and ruining their cushy lifestyles.

Who gives a shit? Saudi Arabia has excess capacity right now because they were trying to drive up prices before the election. Tell them to ask their new bestie, Russia, for help.

Looks like a great opportunity for the US to either tell SA to f off, or obtain the concessions it needs now.

Funny how these things work out sometimes.
