The United States is set to produce a global record of 13.3 million barrels per day of crude and condensate during the fourth quarter of this year, according to a report published Tuesday by S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Last month, weekly US oil production hit 13.2 million barrels per day, according to the US Energy Information Administration. That’s just above the Donald Trump-era record of 13.1 million set in early 2020 just before the Covid-19 crisis sent output and prices crashing.

That’s been helping to keep a lid on crude and gasoline prices.

US output – led by shale oil drillers in Texas and New Mexico’s Permian Basin – is so strong that it’s sending supplies overseas. America is exporting the same amount of crude oil, refined products and natural gas liquids as Saudi Arabia or Russia produces, S&P said.

Trump will double production.

The oil is being drilled on wells permitted pre 2020.
Look at some charts re:permits since slow joe took over.
Permits are going down because they are able to get so much more from a single well with new technology.

At every turn, the Radical Right's talking points are getting shot down.

It's why Hunter Biden gets something attention.

i mean how can you expect oil companies to drill for oil if they don't know who the next president is going to be.
So in trumps 4 years they were sure of the future and decided to drill more?

Throw a nuke at a well and it will probably get more oil

Nah. Trump is so smart, that he would re-start construction on the border wall. While digging each of the thousands of foundations needed, he would strike untapped reserves of oil.

Imagine a whole border of oil derricks and wall!!! MAGA heads would explode with so much winning.

It’s the ultimate grift. Trump’s favorite contractors maintaining a border wall in perpetuity and greasing the palms.

Oil companies are shutting down rigs because oil prices are too low and they have become more efficient. Permits are down because no one wants to build new rigs.

Are we energy independent? Because that’s what many want us to become.

So we are energy independent and dont need middle eastern oil, right?

We import (and export) because of the location of production and refineries.
If we decided to wall off imports and exports, it would just increase inefficiency and raise prices.

As a country we are a net exporter. That began back under Trump.

As a side note, although U.S. imports may seem high given the huge surge in U.S. shale oil production, it’s important to keep in mind that this is not a net import figure. The U.S. also exports oil and finished products like gasoline. The net import number has fallen from a high of 12.5 million BPD in 2005 to 2.3 million BPD in 2018. In fact, for the last two months reported by the EIA — September and October 2019 — the monthly net import number had become a net export number for the first time in at least 70 years.

So you are saying the GOP numpties that tell us that we can be energy independent if we drill drill drill were full of shit.

Ill be damned…

There’s an oil/gas guy on TikTok who explains this really well. His handle is Mr Global. His stuff is well referenced. The answer on independence is that we are a net exporter. We export huge amounts of oil and natural gas. That is balanced by the United States importing even more oil than we export. By total BTUs, we export more than we import

Why do we export oil and then turn around and import right back? Why don’t we use our own? The answer is the type of oil. For decades, Middle Eastern oil was the cheapest. It’s the least costly to drill and extract. The guy on TikTok goes through charts and graphs to explain this. Middle Eastern oil is not as heavy in the fractions we use the most, like gasoline. Because that was the cheapest, our refiners were set up to refine that particular grade of crude oil. The crude that is in Texas is a better grade of crude. That oil is more expensive. Producers can ship it to other countries and make more money, and United States refiners can buy overseas and ship it to us for less money.

I’m sure there are people in the GOP that would vote for that. It used to be the law we couldn’t export.
It fits in with the economic autarky, Hamiltonian/Buchananite protectionism fold of the party. Not all of GOP in favor of free trade, especially whatever gets deemed a ‘strategic’ asset class. Yesterday oil, today microchips.

Here in Jacksonville on Monday has was $2,76 a gallon. Today it’s jumped to $3.19.
