Oklahoma not happy about the time slot given to the Sooner/Little Debbie Game

those expecting that ou will deliver an epic beatdown on ne are likely to be disappointed. somewhat because im not sure ne will be that bad but also because nothing indicates ou will be that good

The networks shell-out big money for these games and dictate the time slots. Oklahoma and Nebraska do not have an understanding of where they sit in the TV ratings pecking order. "Game of the century" is not what I would call it and the networks agree with me.

Which means, Little Debbie and Boomer Sooner, you play when we tell you to play!

50th Anniversary of the game of the century.

I lived out in the larger Seattle area and it was great for sports fans. 11 games are at 9 and so there was always breakfast and football. A great combination. Plus, I didn't need to wait all night for games to be over. I also lived on the east coast. As a sports fan, it was the worst. Games didn't begin until 9 pm. Just sucked.

Mountain Time is the best zone for sports, IMHO.

But it would be great for the economy, and I think for most sports, if the US went to only two time zones. China, about the same east-west size as the US, has only one. FWIW, of course.

Midwest fans really don't understand how well they have it when it comes to time slots for games.

The east coast willingly subjects themselves to the 8 pm start times for the night games, which means games don't get done until 11 or later. But perhaps they've really just been serving their Midwestern overlords this entire time........

Fox in recent years has been intentionally putting games with a 'little more interest' in the 11am slot. They made a marketing/strategy decision to try to capitalize on the early kickoff time as there are still plenty of viewers & not as much 'national competing' games...

So...while, yes, Nebraska is down, this is an ideal game for Fox to move to this time. There will still be plenty of intrigue for this game...but they don't want to put it against say Auburn/Penn St or Alabama/Florida that are that day as well.

This is the exact opposite of what happened. FOX's prime slot is 11 AM. It will most likely be the highest rated game that weekend.

Fox is trying to make their Big Noon Game a thing. They keep putting their most valuable games at that time. This just follows that pattern.

Sucks for OU.

It’s the prime spot for FOX against the competition at that time and might be the most watched 11 am game but if you think it will be watched more than PSU/Auburn or Bama/Florida, you are out of your freaking mind. Hell, the game will be over by halftime with a score like this....OU 35, Nestra6hka 10.

Thank you.

I understand Fox's thinking here. They are trying to lure viewers away from College Gameday, watch their pre-game show and launch right into the Fox noon game. Fine and good luck. It is disingenuous to think that they are placing their top game of the day at noon EST. Answer me this then. Why would they place their top game of the day to begin at 9AM on the west coast? They aren't.

This link has a list of last season's highest rated games through November 10th, I couldn't find an end-of-season list.

Note that the only two games that FOX has in the top ten (NE-OSU and UT-OU) were both 11am games. Yes, they're putting their top game of the day at noon ET. That is their thing.

Then it has a section at the end:

Here's a look at the Big Noon Kickoff window throughout this season.

Sept. 12: Arkansas State-Kansas State -- 1.79 million viewers
Sept. 19: No game
Sept. 26: Kansas State-Oklahoma -- 2.68 million
Oct. 3: TCU-Texas -- 2.70 million
Oct. 10: Texas-Oklahoma -- 4.81 million
Oct. 17: Kansas-West Virginia -- 1.46 million
Oct. 24: Nebraska-Ohio State -- 6.18 million
Oct. 31: Michigan State-Michigan -- 4.22 million
Nov. 7: Arizona State-USC -- 2.33 million

It's too early to draw sweeping conclusions -- and COVID seating restrictions denied us a chance to measure how the crowd would have reacted to a 9 a.m. kick, good or bad -- but Football for Breakfast might be an idea best left for special occasions, like when a Big Ten power happens to travel West, like Michigan (at Washington) and Ohio State (at Oregon) were supposed to in September.

OMG, you Little Debbie fans are something else....it's like you live in a alternate universe.

So, why on earth would the OU AD be so unhappy about the situation where he felt that he had to issue a statement revealing his outrage?

Little Debbie is irrelevant & is the official snack cake of the B1G and OU is now clearly & fully aware.

In many parts of the country, fans might not realize how far the Huskers have fallen.

This will change that.

More like laughing at those delusional Husker fans that think they're relevant. Making fun of Nebby never gets old.
Blue Bloods are always relevant. That’s how Nebraska is able to consistently out recruit everyone in the division. That and an energetic stud head coach.

If that is Fox's thing, then I stand corrected. Still don't get it. If you are trying to win the viewership ratings, once every five weeks, o.k.
2020 Ratings

I have come to terms with reality. Blue Bloods like OU are always relevant. Little Debbie, on the other hand, has sadly been irrelevant for a long time. BUT AT LEAST we are the official snack cake of the B1G. And, by the way, our head coach hides in the closet when he eats his favorite Little Debbie snake cake. Hiding in closets has a tradition for him ever since he hid in a closet while Lawrence Phillips was beating up a woman. He's a coward, sure, but he's OUR COWARD.

Fixed it for ya.

Okay Cable Guy, covid is over and you can go back out on the road now.

Little Franny puts his own foot in mouth after stats showed he was wrong and he still spouts off. Nebraska always a big draw - keep crying.

OU AD is more upset about the KO time because it could have been huge for a recruiting weekend if the KO were at 7pm. The 50-year anniversary pomp & circumstance & pageantry leading up to KO would have created a surreal environment for their campus. No doubt, an easy sell to recruits.

As far as the game is concerned, OU has way too many horses and it could turn into an ugly game for Nebraska. AD rightfully thinks a later KO would make a nighttime beating a rock concert environment for recruits.

The line is in the OU -18 to -20 range depending on the book, but I see a score in the vicinity of 54-17 Oklahoma and the score probably won't reflect the real outcome
