An Omaha man in his early 20s may be a high-level Pokémon Go player, but a fellow player is alleging some low-class behavior.
According to an Omaha Police Department incident report:
A 41-year-old Omaha man who plays Pokémon Go reported to police Tuesday that he received angry text messages from a younger player about trying to catch Pokémon in “his area.”
The younger player “takes the game very serious, he is very aggressive,” the report narrative states. The harassment had gone on for about two weeks and had begun to include threats of violence.
Both Pokémon aficionados are “higher level” players, the 41-year-old told police.
The younger player’s mother had also harassed him, he said.
Pokémon Go is a scavenger hunt of sorts, where players chase virtual creatures around with a smartphone. The app monitors users’ locations and presents Pokémon that players can catch. Players walk to various areas to find new Pokémon.
