Let's see, it's November, a #3 ranked and undefeated team, they're going on the road, National Championship aspirations, 2:30 PM start on ABC, against a .500 team who's just putting it together, with an interception prone gunslinger at QB...

Then again, the last game I was this nervous for was Northwestern, so there's that.

Were we 11-0?

No soybean. Penn State was 9-0 ranked #3 and coming off a big win at Ohio State. We were a 5-4 team coming off a loss to Illinois, but our 4 losses were by a total of 12 points. That was the beginning of November though. I think we'll finish like we did that year by winning 55-0 and having a couple of drunkards hooking up in the bathroom.

I'd be nervous if you were CJ.

We are 11-0 and we have wrapped up the West and are playing in the B1G Championship for the title. If we lose to Nebraska we still have a lot to play for, including maybe the Rose Bowl. If we win we are 12-0 and playing for a chance at the national Championship. If we lose them both we may play Navy in the Peach Bowl.and that should be incentive enough to win one of the next two.

Not.

EDIT: Sorry thought you meant Beathard. Should have used more imagination while I was reading it. ;)

The only ones that should be nervous is the Nebraska D. How in the hell do you gameplan for Iowa. We have a QB that can hurt you with his arm or his legs. We have 4 RB's and 3 of them have showed the ability to rack up some serious yardage. We have 2 big TE's that can beat you across the middle or out on the edge. We have a clutch receiver in Vandeberg and a receiver that can block in Hilyer. We have 2 receivers that have deep threat ability. We have an OL that can open up huge running lanes and can dominate the line of scrimmage. We also have a placekicker that is better the farther away he is from the goalposts than up close. Our offense is a matchup nightmare for any team. Almost forgot to mention our 2 FB's that are bulldozers. So, why be nervous unless you are on the other side of the line from them.

CJ has only thrown 3 picks. I wouldn't refer to him as being interception prone.
He was talking about Armstrong.
I'm a Husker fan, and I agree. Armstrong can be a great player, and interception prone...all in the same game!
When he's on, he's as good as any QB in the BIG.
We'll see which Armstrong shows up on Fri.

This is college football and it's unpredictable. There's a very good chance Nebraska wins this game as they are not nearly as bad as their record suggests. Conservatively, they should be 7-4 as the way the lost to BYU and Illinois were both inexplicable. Add in a few other tossup games (Miami in OT, Wisconsin, and Northwestern) and you see a team that I would expect to be 8-3.

Iowa is still better, but the margin is pretty thin, plus the game is on the road. I expect Iowa to win, but I also expect it to be very close.

If Iowa plays like they have all year they will win. However, if there are shenanigans....

Iowa is a better team and they've got the Big West Title wrapped up to prove it. What does that mean for this particular game? Not much.

We know our Defense will be 10 yards away from all their receivers and we won't get to the QB. Book that. We also know they can't stop our Offense.

We hang on to the ball, we win. IMO.

But shit happens on the way to the bank sometimes, or you can ask Michigan State if they would agree with that after their last trip to Lincoln. Hopefully we don't have the same officiating crew....

Armstrong is at his best when he is escaping the pocket and it turns into playground football. If you get pressure on him or force him to make decisions in the pocket he makes mistakes. He is erratic to say the least. Like someone said he can be great and horrible all in the same game. I think Iowa is going to have do dial up some pressure in this game like they did a couple years ago with Hitchens, Morris and Kirksey. This could be a big day for Beathard and the receivers and TEs.

I've seen this before too:

the Shuckers D gave up over 50 points to Purdue....

This has been such an amazing ride that honestly, anything after this point is just icing on the cake. I would love to see us beat Nebraska, Michigan State and advance to the college playoff. If we don't, it's been a great ride and we end up in a very good bowl. Hopefully this is the start of a very good run by the Hawks.

I"m nervous. I'm even more nervous now that we're on the SI regional cover. If Mike Greenberg picks us to win and gets on our bandwagon, we're doomed.

Stack the box with 8 or 9 on 1st/2nd downs, nickel and dime packages on 3rd. Hell it only took Purdue a quarter to figure it out and then another quarter by Iowa to realize you have to throw on first down at least some of the time. Other than that, blitzes seem to work against Iowa, but if you put all 11 in the box you might be looking at the a$$ of an Iowa RB.
