Is this the case once the season officially begins?

There looks to be alot of weights to be decided this year. 33, 49, 57, 74, 84, 97 seem up in the air right now. Does anyone know if there will be a public wrestle off this year? We had a great time at the last one we went to and would like to see another one.

What about 25, 65, and Hvy?

Either is Drake. At last glance Joey Cruz was a little undersized for a 25lber. He’s great depth, and an excellent handcuff in case of re-injury. Imo.
Drake all the way if he is >67% of true form. Cruz a nice Plan B (and breather option if Drake ends up on a pitch count for some reason).

And don’t forget to bring your cameras.

Who in the heck do you think is going to compete with Franek at 157? Pretty clear favorites at 133 and 149 as well—to an admittedly lesser degree on the latter.

A healthy Schreiver vs. Teske (Unless Schreiver is a suspension?). 49 has Voinavich, Block and Rathjen with Rathjen probably a slight favorite. Franek is clear favorite if Cobee is out, but I also aint counting Riggins out til I see it.

Schriever couldn't beat Teske last year. But now he's suddenly going to beat him? (He's suspended, anyway.)

149...eh...wishful thinking on Block for sure. Rathjen, maybe. But Voinovich was busy wrestling and winning matches at the NCAAs last year while Rathjen was...?

But really...the two above...I guess I can see...especially compared to your 157 which is off the rails. Franek has been to the blood round twice and finished 4th last year. Riggins sucked down hard to get to 157 and looked awful doing it. Even if he somehow sucked down again, he's not touching Franek. Not even close. I mean, he did get 6th at the Soldier Solute at 165. smh

Teske has been unimpressive. Schriever and Teske is a toss up and would be a good wrestle off.

Where was Rathjen? He was behind Mad Max at 149 and so would Voinovich if he was in the room. Rathjen was not good at 57 last year but looked very competitive at 49. Id love to see a Rathjen vs Voinovich match.

I agree with you on Franek. I dont remember if Seibriecht is on the gambling suspension but if he isnt that would be a great wrestle off. The best in the country probably get a little nervous worrying about Cobe's big moves. But yeah, Franek is the favorite.

Just some food for thought what if Ferrari is eligible after the first of the year???? Can he make 149?? Doubtful I know but everyone has given up on catching psu so why does it matter right??? I know I’ll be doing my part cheering these guys on all year and if they can stay healthy they are going to shock the wrestling world!

As unimpressive(?) as he was, Schriever has been less so.

Rathjen didn't look like a guy who was going to win multiple matches at the NCAAs. And he seems to always be hurt.

Big moves can no doubt be fun. But that's Franek's spot. (Thinking it's a moot point, anyway.)

He will redshirt in any plausible scenario. Quite frankly, I don't have a lot of optimism we see him at Iowa much or for long.

I dont know much about this Ferrari other than not the talent of the hs senior coming in next year. Does he have a chance of winning the 49 spot second semester?

No. Just more mental masturbation from Spoons.

So when he is in a Iowa uniform and winning matches you will be angry? I think he is going to be a really good successful Hawkeye wrestler and he is fitting right in with our other future champs. Best get used to it

Who, me or you is the real question here.

Well, I expressed an opinion about whether he makes it to or at Iowa or not and your response was to ask if I’d be “angry” if he wrestled at Iowa and won a match. So you figure it out.

And yet my question remains, do you want this Ferrari brother and the other one coming in next season to be successful Hawkeyes or not?

Im with you on all points other than 149. Voinovich is good, but Rathjen impressed last year up a weight. That one’s a toss up where I’m sitting

Why did you ask me and why should I answer? It has nothing to do with my comment.

What was impressive? He went 6-5 including a loss to some guy named Nick Palumbo. Only two of his wins were by bonus despite only wrestling a few guys decent or better.

Thats fine, I knew you would dance around the question like someone in congress.
My answer is a Heck yes to the same question and I can easily say that for any Hawk TnT put on the mat!
