Got both for Christmas and have now finished reading both. Just want to say they are both very good.

I read "Killing Jesus" and found it interesting.

But I think BO might have made a mistake with the Reagan book because there are still some people around who remember what happened.....unlike Jesus, Lincoln, Patton and even JFK. The comments about "Killing Reagan" by people with first-hand knowledge have been devastating.

There is some consternation, no doubt. The segment on O'reilly's show with George Will was awkward to say the least.

Has it affected sales or future books in the series from being published?

How enormous does your ego have to be to write historical accounts of the deaths of Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, JFK, Adolf Hitler, and Jesus Christ?

How did they die? Do all of his books focus on death? I mean Jesus makes sense as death was his whole point, but why a book about how Patton died?

They are pretty good if you know nothing about these subjects. Read killing Lincoln and thought it was o.k but certainly nothing ground breaking. Thumbed through killing Jesus and didn't buy because it's basically the same thing....

Big enough to cover "four wars with a pen", lie about half the details, and still keep his job because his employer actually pays him to misrepresent facts. That strategy has been very effective with undereducated rural white voters, particularly those older than 50, who look to a strong personality to confirm their biases. Now that O'Reilly has written about all of these deaths, perhaps he can claim that he was an eyewitness to them.

because there was a mystery around it. Many powerful people considered him dangerous.

OK Mr stereotype. The only time I've been on a farm is to hunt pheasants. Please inform me how the super intelligent urbanites have done in cities like Detroit. Or the murder capital of the world like Chicago. Can those types of geniuses even read?

I think your post more or less speaks for itself and supports my general idea. You are rural white conservative voter. People who live in rural areas in general are more likely to view change as a bad thing, instead preferring a slower pace of life. Because of their limited exposure to people of different backgrounds, rural whites tend to have a harder time seeing, for example, that being suspicious of all Muslims because some Muslims are extremists is illogical and counter-productive. The conservative ones are less likely to believe in society working together to solve problems, especially through democratic government, instead viewing the problems of people they don't know as "something they need to figure out on their own".

Ironic post

I didn't know that, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I had it in my mind he died normally long after retirement in the 60's or similar.

You really think you have it all figured out, don't you? I don't believe all muslims are dangerous but I believe disproportionate number are. Plus it's their intolerance and rigid inflexibility that causes their madness. And I don't believe change is bad but change just for the sake of change is bad. O'Reilly's books are historical accounts, they are not political. Some claim killing Reagan is but I haven't read that one.

I thought Patton died as a result of injuries suffered in an auto accident. Who killed him?

I read "Killing Lincoln" and as a poster above said, it's an okay read. Nothing that isn't already known about the 16th president's murder but a good read if you've never read anything else on the assassination.

Patton died from head trauma in his Cadillac on the way to a hunting trio when a tractor trailer cut his car off, I believe.
