I know most are still feeling the sting of the loss against ISU last week.

But this article transcends sports and interstate rivals.

This is the article the announcers referenced about the Iowa State player... and shows what kind of pressure these kids perform under, which we might consider before we are so quick to be critical of 18-22 year old kids.

Gottlieb knows a little about this himself -- having been kicked off the Notre Dame team as a Freshman basketball player.

Thomas was the #1 Recurit in his class according to the Ames Tribune. He is finally finding his way.

Excellent read, And I agree about judging kids, I did a lot of stupid stuff when I was in school, Just luckily never got in "trouble" for it.

Agree. It's almost sad the amount grown adults that bash these kids because they lose a stupid basketball or football game. Life is so much bigger than that. Yes, we all want to win, but some people act like the world is about to end. There is not one kid out there that is not giving it their all.

What always gets me are when fans of a rival team make fun of a guy for not making an NBA team. Why would you root for a kid to fail at a career? I see ISU fans do that with White and Iowa fans do that with Ejim. It makes no sense at all unless these guys punched you or something. I'm old.

Probably like fans of a rival team that boo a player on the ground who had been accidentally poked in the eye and another player who endured F'bomb insults throughout his warm ups. Yes and both players happen to be native Iowans. Yes you have a point.

Good to see a positive thread. If Thomas hadn't hit almost every shot in the first half, ISU could have been behind by more than 20 at half. He did a great job of defending Uthoff much of the second half.
