Watching MNF and the announcers keep talking about this guy named George Fant who didn't even play football in high school or college and now he is the starting left tackle for the Seahawks. I kept thinking the name sounded familiar but I couldn't quite figure out why. Then I remembered this guy was one of the first recruits Fran targeted when he got to Iowa. He ultimately went to Western Kentucky, but if I remember correctly he almost committed to Iowa.

I don't know the whole story about how he ended up in the NFL, but I thought this was pretty cool. Anyone else remember this guy?

How did that happen?

Hell yah he was pretty good at WKU. I follow most of our targets.

I've said for years. that if I were an NFL GM, I would sign basketball players for cb's and safeties. There are lots of great athletes playing basketball in college that could play cb and safety (wide receiver also) both in college and the pros. Wagner is a current example of that on Iowa's basketball team.

You wouldn't last very long.
