Great segment on this month's episode of HBO's Real Sports about the participation trophy culture in youth sports. Apparently the first generation of young adults that were a product of the participation trophy culture are graduating from college and there is now research being released showing the impact of this "self-esteem" building practice. Regardless of what your opinion on the issue is, it was an excellent report and some of the research they highlighted was very interesting. It will be replayed for the rest of this month and I believe non-HBO subscribers can access it on HBO's website, although I don't know this for sure. Well worth the time to watch in my opinion.
