OT: IHSAA Playoff 4A Pairings

Never. Bettendorf runs this state in football. Eastern Iowa runs this state in sports. Its just the way it is. ; )
eastern Iowa schools have accounted for 12 of the past 22 4A basketball champs, I would hardly consider that domination, although West will probably win a few more in the coming years. As for football, since 1995, 8 of the past 20 4A football champs have come from eastern Iowa...during that same timeframe 10 have come from the town of West Des Moines. Bettendorf has two titles in the past 20 years, fwiw compared to 5 for Dowling and 5 for Valley. Just sayin...
Wrong. We have always dominated. I can list you more Hawkeyes from the MAC and MVC, than you can the rest of the state combined. We are the life blood of the state.
Not only that, its literally East vs West. Its a gauntlet over here. We are like the SEC West beating up on each other, and limping into the CCG, while the West plays NO ONE, stays healthy and basically plays a one game season.

what is wrong with the FACTS I presented. You are simply giving an opinion, that may or may not be true, and based on facts, it isn't.
Depends on who you ask. Iowa City Regina hasn't seemed to mind for the last 6 years.
Ha ha, I had a feeling you were wrong. I thought that Des Moines has always been dominating. I see Dowling is no.1 and 7 of the top 13 are Des Moines area schools! Wow!
4A football is run by the 'Burbs' now.

The bolded teams have won all but like 2 or 3 of the State titles in 4A since 2000. I don't know about basketball, but I think baseball has been pretty much dominated by the West as well.
It should be 24, with district champs getting the bye. Having 3 8-1 schools and only letting 2 in seems wrong since it's just based on points. On the other hand, yes getting to the playoffs for a 4-5 team may seem important to the school and community. But then they travel about 2 hours (in the small schools) to get their ass kicked by 50 against the 9-0 team they're playing. Not much pride left after that.
The only issue is that with 24, unless they changed the days, teams would still be playing two games with 4 days rest in between.....and 3 days rest between the Rd of 16 and the Quarterfinals.
And the reason why you have to have an issue with that is because if you don't then you don't really have an issue with the way the set-up is now, in the first place, in which case you have to ask yourself....what was the point?

With the number of schools, I think 16 is the right number. I don't see anything wrong with a 7-2 or occasionally an 8-1 team being left out.

I was on an 8-1 team that was left out of the playoffs. Maybe 16 is right for 4A but smaller classes with more schools may need an expanded playoff.
Where in the hell is Bettendorf?! Is it even a 4a school? Is it a new high school in Des Moines metro?
Basketball has been dominated by the East. North scott/ PV finals last year and then Bett/ICW were always #1/2 for a couple years with some great head to head match ups at Wells Fargo Arena.
I think Bett will get to the finals this year. If they were healthy they would probably win it
I wish we could cut the state in a 1/3 from Waterloo south, over to the Mississippi River, and start our own state.

This. We are a total beast in basketball. All the talent comes from the MAC and MVC. Lol at Des Moines basketball. And Souix City or out that way is pretty much Nebraska.

So I take it you're not a Des Moines school. Anyway, everybody from every other state I've met considers anybody not from the DM metro rural hicks in the state of Iowa. Sorry to break it to you. There's some truth to it though, Des Moines definitely runs Iowa. Same with Minneapolis, Chicago, Omaha, Milwaukee, etc. Every state has that 1 city that is the financial and cultural hub for the whole state. Outsiders (tourists) have no interest in any other city in Iowa except for maybe the college towns.
I thought that Betendorff maybe was the name of that new high school in Ankeny. Didn't Ankeny have to split into two schools?

Look dude, I don't care what your Montana buddies think, we all know the truth. More people have heard of the Quad Cities than Des Moines. Honestly, I am not even 100% sure I know how to get to Des Moines.
Lol, no. No they haven't. It's not even close. Hell I couldn't even name the Quad Cities & I'm from there! Davenport, 2 in Illinois, & another in Iowa. Are the Quad Cities half the size of the Des Moines metro yet??? Lol, I'm sure it's a tiny little community.
