I actually had missed this game but got put down a rabbit hole just now recently watching the highlights. Here you go:
Thoughts:
1) Kirk dramatically out coached Harbaugh in a naibiter
2) Iowa wins 14-13. But did we score two TDS/xpts? Nope. Safety, TD, missed 2-point conversion, and two FGs. How Iowa is that?
3) That was an undefeated Michigan team based mostly on their sick defense. Wadley was ridinkulous against them. Like possibly better than the NW “coming out “ 4 TD game. He was in Reggie Bush territory there with some of those moves.
4) Manny Rugamba frustrates me so much. He was in our HS 7-on7 program at the time. He was SO athletic. He could have been ridiculously elite, possibly the best Iowa CB ever even ahead of Dez, Fletcher and the rest. Watch this game he had an amazing pick against a 9-0 Michigan team and some amazing deflections as a true freshman no less. He was long, lean, quick as hell and could jump like a SOB.
. Then he pisses it away, ends up kind of falling to the wayside at a a MAC school. But I’m telling you he could have been a Thorpe winner if he put the time and effort into it. The talent was there.
