In the midst of Iowa's 19-year non-winning season stretch, Purdue was quite good. They went 9-2, 8-2, 8-2, 8-2 from 1966 through 1969. They had really, really good quarterbacks like Bob Griese and Mike Phipps.
Then they had Leroy Keyes. One of the most versatile, talented players I ever saw play the game. He played both offense and defense. And for two seasons that I remember, he personally destroyed Iowa...which admittedly wasn't all that hard in those days, but was devastating to witness anyway.
He was utterly remarkable.
