OT: Nebraska Fan Base Should Be Humbled, They Aren't

After the last couple seasons, and even during the Callahan years you would think the fan base to our west would be humbled. Instead they have seemingly become emboldened. When Frost was hired, they proclaimed greatness was around the corner. They have claimed he will win multiple national titles, Iowa will never beat Nebraska again, and so on. Now here we are, Nebraska is 0-2 after losing to Colorado and Troy. You would think that would humble them a bit, instead they have double downed on things. They have said "these things take time", "greatness will come", etc...

If there is one thing I know, if Scott Frost has any success at Nebraska they will be 10x as worse than they were in the 90's. The only way this ends well for other teams in the B1G is if Frost is a failure of epic proportions similar to that of a Tim Brewster.

I dare you not to post a thing about Nebraska for 2 weeks.

I'm just going off what I saw on the commercial on TV. $1 seems like a hell of a deal. I might try some for breakfast tomorrow. At that price, I can afford to get 3 of them.

Lots of Americans are delusional these days: Despite the evidence, they believe only what they want to believe. For example, Nebraska is great at football, and little green men (and women) from Mars built the pyramids. It's all absolutely true.

That fan base has always thought that winning is easier than it actually is. To be fair, though, if you listen to their radio stations, there aren't very many voices of moderation out there. If the prior regime was as bad as they have been made out to be, you can't undo that in a single off-season. And much of their attrition in the off-season was higher ranked players. The team simply isn't that talented. When Frost and Moos make hyperbolic statements, it does a disservice to the fan base because there are koolade drinkers hanging on every word.

These things do take time. No idea how good they will or won't be for 2 more years most likely. But I am thrilled for another Nebraska thread.

No kidding, both points are true. We didn’t need another thread, and Hawkeye fans should recall KF going 1-10 his first season, and IIRC 3-8 the next? Granted, Iowa fans and media were not out proclaiming him to be the best coach ever...

Believe me, those of us that understand the game are very humbled. Hope springs eternal but we have a long ways to go to compete in the West.
