AP Friday Dec. 22 - The Ohio State university, after narrowly missing the College Football Playoff, has self-reported "numerous" undisclosed recruiting violations that occurred during the 2017 season. Sources say that the nature of the violations will affect the official results of all games played during the specified period. The university is hoping to avoid further investigation and sanctions by self-reporting and voluntarily vacating results of games played during the period in which the violations occurred.
As the result of the petition submitted to the NCAA on Friday, all games played between Nov. 3, 2017 and Nov. 5, 2017 will be expunged from the permanent records of both the NCAA and The Ohio State University. The program will also be placed on probation for 12 months as part of a settlement reached with the governing board of the Big Ten earlier this week.
