Makes you wonder if it was "suggested" he find somewhere else to play at the end of last year.
Funny how when guys like Dezman Moses and Brandon Wegher end up being NFL caliber players people say once a Hawk always a Hawk. Those same people sing a different tune with the Bone Crusher Williams and Reggie Spearman type players.
Bone crusher is your prime example of a former hawk we don't acknowledge?
This player was one of the problems with team chemistry last year, another player had left mid season....enjoy the players we have now bc those are the ones who earned it and deserve it
Agreed, in the 50's the great Bud Wilkenson sacrificed team unity for a talented running back, Joe Don Looney. Bud later had to remove him from the team. He said keeping him for a while set their team back at least two years. Talent, or perceived talent, is not always worth the headaches.
There are posters here who will go to their graves believing the exact opposite.
And I am glad I am not one of them.
I think you'll find that fans' feelings often depend on what a player does after leaving. If he continues to find trouble, we're not likely to recognize him as a Hawk.
Did Williams ever set foot on campus for his freshman year? I thought all his troubles started and were dealt with before he even got here. If so, that wouldn't have made him a Hawkeye anyway
