OT: Texas crowd for TCU game tonight

The B12 only draws well at Kansas, ISU, sometimes KState and sometimes Texas Tech. The rest are crappy basket fan bases.

I think WV draws pretty well but I made this point last year that the B1G has many more “intimidating” arenas on the road to play in than the Big12. I looked at ISU’s road attendance last year and it was nothing compared to Iowa’s.

Reminds me of the Lickliter days walking into Carver and not even looking at my seat location on the ticket. Just grab a seat somewhere
I went to a home conference game in Lickliter's last season... Northwestern, I believe.. that might not have been 1/5th full. Like NOBODY went to that game - both ends totally empty, with only scattered fans on the sides.

Yep few late-era Lick games I went to I said to my SO that we had more fans at our practices most days (Dr Tom had open practices for the most part).

You could almost call tonight's crowd in Austin... Lickliter-esque.
This man can get it fixed.

I’ve heard rumors about Texas going after Beilein. Not sure he’d be interested in that kind of rebuilding. I’m not so sure you can even call it rebuilding since Texas basketball doesn’t have much history.

West Virginia draws well. The big surprise the past couple of years or so has been Okie State, which for years was usually sold out or close to it but doesn't draw flies these days.

I think Wichita State's Greg Marshall is a guy that TX will kick the tires. He gets paid well by the Koch Bros in Wichita, so TX will have to pay up.

I've heard that TX has been hurt by injuries almost as badly as Iowa this year. I really like Shaka Smart, I'm truly surprised that it hasn't gone better there.

Just goes to show that it's a lot harder to build programs in college hoops than we think. Texas should be a dynamo in every sport with their $$$ and recruiting base.

Basketball will always take a distant backseat to football at Texas. The aging Erwin Center doesn’t help at all. The new facility will help.

Even taking a backseat to FB, Texas shouldn’t have to have a new facility built to be able to compete. It’s not like that place is a dump. Texas has either the richest athletic Dept or 2nd richest behind Ohio State. So nice things are not a problem for them. I’m not convinced he can’t coach and I actually really like him. But at some point he has to start winning.

Injuries or not, Smart is not getting it done at Texas in the coaching dept. The team is loaded with talent. The current roster has 1 five star, 10 4 star, 1 three star and a WO. (rivals.com) The last 5 recruiting classes at Texas have been very strong, yes there has been a little attrition.

Here is what I don't get... it seems that Smart has not implemented has havoc defense at Texas... why? Is it because it didn't work? Can't get high level recruits to buy in? What gives?
