OT: Three Nebraska Players Kneel For National Anthem

Demonstrating against the oppression they endure. The oppression of getting a free college education for playing a game.
It'll come to Iowa City sooner or later. I wonder how our fans will react. Probably depends on wins and losses if we're being honest.
This has become more of a fad and not "starting a dialog" that those who do this say is the reason for it.
well once they start it don't they have to continue to do it or it shows they are only doing because of others.
The true thing will be when people will say why aren't all athletes and people not doing it. They must be for cops shooting people and racism and drowning puppies.

I hate to judge but This post is a doldrum of remedial muck... And I get the feeling some players are doing other things beside the norm during the anthem just because they can.. During the national anthem at the michigan game the camera panned to a few Black players from Michigan with their fist in the air.. How did that make you feel?? Yes , if don't like this country you are free to leave but you are also FREE to kneel, you are FREE to cry you are FREE to fart or stand during the national anthem.. Remember this is America we have a choice. Land of the Free and the home of the Brave..

I believe that standing for the anthem is a must, to respect those who've died, including incredible heros and patriots like Crispus Attucks and the Tuskegee Airmen. I totally respect a raised fist or even turning your back to the flag. This is America, do as you please, but expect to be judged based on you're actions.

For those that protest in this manner...I say if you don't like living in the good ol USA, then go live in another country. What a bunch of entitled babies this country has turned into.
I don't really understand how a bunch of athletes kneeling during a song really starts a conversation about social issues that have been covered pretty extensively for years now.

Who cares anymore. None of these guys are doing anything besides their anthem actions. Until they start reaching out to black community or police to better relations is a moot point. Funny blame police when deaths for black people are declining conistantly last decade by police but deaths among their own like Chicago on the rise. But it's a juicer story so they go with that. So tired of this played out crap anymore.

This is a fad right now and will go away soon. The sad truth in this country is that people are easily attracted to these fads that end up doing very little postive before they get bored and move on to another newer trendier fad while each one causes the country to divide more and more.
I doubt some rally want to become closer or create less division with these protesters.. everyone has already judged this movement as a fad or sign of disrespect to the country in which they live and pay taxes and do everything everybody else does besides stand and salute the flag during the anthem. They kneel or put a fist in the air they air looked at as ingrates.. Now Let the healing begin
So true. And lot of us Iowa alums living in Chicago know too well about all the tragic murders from the unjust violence that's in my opinion too few people care about. Yeah cases like Tulsa it's tragic and shouldn't happen but it's not the norm. But it's the fad to blame police and not look at the real issues and having lived in Chicago with black males deaths the police is one of the last of their worries and that's what bothers me with these dumb protest. Gangs, drugs, poverty etc cause so many more senseless murders.

The problem is these guys draw the attention to them, the cameras and everyone waits and these guys say nothing, don't go on any mission to create change, aren't working hard in communities to improve conditions really aren't doing a damn thing but kneeling or raising a fist in the air and then just going and sitting on their bums when the cameras aren't on them. They do nothing and put in no work at all for change.

I find it humorous that the "expression of free speech" is not allowed to be discussed about on the Nebraska board. It is ironic.
