OT: Three Nebraska Players Kneel For National Anthem

Everyone should take from the MNF game last night. ALL players and coaches from BOTH teams united at mid field after THE ANTHEM. Now that is a demonstration of unity and character. No the ME card these others portray. You have choices.

This narrative that all whites or ( insert other random race besides AA ) are privileged and face neither racial bias or their own new racial stereotypes and obstacles is the ultimate in double standard. What is truly troubling is the growing amount of racist hyperbole coming from recent activism. Your statements reflect this, as you clearly lump people into stereotypes based on their skin color and/or cultural background.
You seem like the type to dismiss the white kid being beaten and dragged by rioters in the Charlotte parking garage or the recent arson/murder of that elderly white lady as justified by history instead of recognizing that there might be an agenda being pushed by a select group of power brokers.
If you are truly for social justice then you would condemn any generalizations based on a race and strongly condemn violent racist attacks on ANYONE, not just those fitting the current narrative.
Otherwise your just another pawn, being played for a mouthpiece.
VERY well said and I totally agree. The entire white privilege movement is not only a waste of time, but it is a very naïve and ignorant movement. It's not helping anything at all and it is not in anyway constructive. I'm tired of seeing the real problems drowned out by the social justice warrior morons who don't understand that they're actually fanning the flames of racial disparity, despite them thinking that they are helping it.
I also totally agree that if you're going to march as a social justice warrior, then you better be prepared to take in the full focus of it and not just cherry pick what fits your agenda. Charlotte is a special case of stupid, because not only was it based on a lie, but it was a black cop who shot a black man. Which then led to a protest, where another black man shot another black man.

Talk about having the problem wrapped up in a pretty little bow.

The irony.

Don't like this country? ....... you're free to leave :)
All the REAL African-Americans I know love this country. Shame there are so many black americans that don't feel the same.
And don't just blame the whiteys.....some TRUE african americans don't like to be called "african american" because they feel it lumps them in with black americans.

Take your stupid politics to the off topic board.

This is the most garbage post I've ever seen. I grew up mostly without my father in my life and did that lead me to automatically go on some sort of crime spree? No. I actually think I became a better person by not having to rely on my parents as much for anything and working hard to make a better life for myself than what I grew up with. There are deadbeat parents regardless of gender, race, religion, etc. You don't know how these people grew up or what circumstances they have had to deal with and for you to say that is just complete ignorance.

I see the regents and some Nebraska fans think these players should be hurt or even killed for their peaceful protest.. The kid whom they threatened had a whole press conf about it today.. Very sad!

People are getting way too worked up about the protests. I doubt people would feel the same if it was people in their own communities being killed.

The media is dividing America just like ESPN which doesn't cover sports anymore just politics. I have black friends they aren't bad or anything but they are embarrassed on how this is being handled. One told me America is great if these protestors had to live a year in Africa they would understand how great we all have it. Stand up for our soldiers and quite being pawns!!

You know black people that aren't "bad or anything"?? lol
Yeah who cares if there is injustice in the country? Because at least it is better than Africa.

I work with an educated black man, a former Armed Forces member, and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. And he's pretty much disgusted with the "plight" of his own race and the perceived "oppression" of them in 2016 America.

He's not some former star black athletes Son or relative, nor is he one (he's kinda clumsy!), he's just an Average Joe. He was presented the same opportunities as his white counterparts growing up and he took advantage of it and got his ass out of bed everyday to better himself, and he and his Wife are making sure their children do the same (sadly I've never heard him mention his Father, so he apparently never grew up with one, and still he managed).

He's got a nice house, a nice car and a mini-van for he and his Wife to drive their several children around to their sporting and academic events. He requires his children to go to school to learn. He owns guns too, lots of them, and he's never shot anyone or been shot at. He knows if the Police pull you over, you comply with their requests and you'll all go home safely.

You won't see him kneeling during the National Anthem, nor will you see him at a Black Lives Matter event. He understands that a Black Man is the President of the United States, even though he thinks he's horrible at his job and has caused far more problems than he's solved. In short, he thinks for himself. He hasn't received nor does he want special treatment or a handout. He doesn't see a Caucasian face as some form of evil, just another face that could become a friend in time.

He sees himself as an American, not an African-American. If you're black or white and want to emulate someone, you could do a lot worse than this guy, and he doesn't get the Colin Kaepernick's of the world in 2016 in America.

His speech, appearance and general mannerisms and work ethic make him a productive member of a civilized society, and he doesn't think he's done anything "heroic" to make all that a reality for he and his family.

There is so much wrong with this post I thought it was satire at first. There is so much wrong I don't even know where to start.

For those who had a knee jerk reaction to the Husker players who knelt, Michael Rose-Ivey gave a pretty solid explanation of what the purpose of it was. And the fact that some people reacted so poorly to it just reinforces the need for attention to the racial issues we have in our country. He's a thoughtful, eloquent young man and I'm proud that he's a Husker.

The fact that this has resulted in a meeting with the Governor of Nebraska, who firmly disagreed with his actions (who I also strongly believe doesn't understand the depth of what has urged MRI to do this), is evidence enough that it has resulted in "something". He also plans to meet with the Omaha PD once the season is over (from what I've been told). Throw in the conversations and awareness this has spurred, and I think it has already proven to be a meaningful exercise.

There is systemic racism and oppression in this nation that impedes equality. A black person must work HARDER than a white person to achieve comparable success. This is a fact whether you recognize it or not. It's amazing that people, in 2016, don't comprehend that.

We are not living in a post racial society people. Whether you have a black neighbor or a spouse, you must understand that minorities, particularly blacks, are oppressed and have every right to right to protest.
Thank you Barack.

There's so many things factually wrong with this post, I honestly don't even know where to begin.

People are getting way too worked up about the protests. I doubt people would feel the same if it was people in their own communities being killed.

I live in the city center of one of the top ten police shooting incidents (with fatalities) cities in the U.S., so people in my community ARE being killed as are our police officers. The difference is that although my city has these issues the racial demographics don't fit the false narrative being spread so it is largely ignored. So yeah... that pretty much destroys that theory.

The real problem here is a disconnect in some communities about proper safe behavior when being confronted by officers. The time to dispute treatment or anything is not in those crucial moments when being confronted it's later. Comply to stay safe and say your piece once everyone is secure. It's not that big of a deal.

By the way I have been thrown to the ground with a boot on my back with a gun in face because my car was the same color as a drive by perps. I did everything they said to the best of my ability after my original dumb behavior and even got an apology. I don't really blame them, looking back they could have mistaken my noncompliance as scheming for a tactical advantage. I almost got killed because I was impatient and insensitive to the seriousness of the events.

Omg......Mexicans/Latinos don't ever complain and are the most hard working people and best family oriented people among races.

They don't say anything bad about whites or white privilege. I wish all races could be more like them.

I'm white and I wish whites were more like Latinos. But let's just stop this thread let's focus on football team.

Thank you I will because I just wanna talk football and not read stupid stuff like you so bye Felicia! Also burning down cities is peaceful protests lol ok. Their are ways to do their protests without disrespecting veterans mr. Internet tough guy why don't you list into the army/navy/guard. But storm I'm done reading this stupid thread

If you're tired of this thread stop posting and responding.. Pretty simple... Just accept the fact that black people have the right to a peaceful protest due feeling that injustices are a part of this country and black peoples history in this country.. And now the protest has been taken to the grid iron.. It's football, it's life, it's real, gotta deal..

Threatening a young person is much worse than kneeling for the anthem. I strongly disagree with the kneeling but making threats over using our 1st Amendment rights should be dealt with harshly.

I can get behind THIS thought. No one should be punished or threatened for utilizing the rights all Americans are supposedly guaranteed in the US Constitution. Whether it's guns or protest, those parts of our laws (Bill of Rights, Constitution, etc.) should apply equally and without regard to ethnicity, income, background or any other damn thing.

Absolutly not, but you can go there and express your feelings if you like.. I'm sure if you had the Brass do to that it would go over well.. So you enjoy! But let me ask you this? What does players kneeling at the Nebraska game have to do with the south side of Chicago.. Was there an unarmed man shot by the police there?? Man I swear ever time I try to end this Some one drags me back in!! SoBeIt... No way will I ever defend or accept what those players went thru after their protest to be right..

Demonstrating against the oppression they endure. The oppression of getting a free college education for playing a game.

It's all about equality and an absolute due process. With as much media attention this has received, I'm surprised so many people don't understand the issue.

It's about being treated equally as any other person not of color would be.

What is the speech and appearance that makes someone a productive member of a civilized society?

Come on man you know what he means. He can't outright say it but you know what he means. I am amazed that so many white males seem to know for a fact that groups other than them are not oppressed or treated differently in anyway. Their attitude comes off as geez shut your mouth and quick complaining you are getting a free education for playing a game for my entertainment. I just don't want you get to uppity on me since you were lent a hand. Oh and you are american not African American (From the same dude who tells everyone he can drink a lot because he is Irish)

I was married to a minority. I can assure you bias does exist. Until you walk a mile in their shoes you have no right to tell them how they should feel.

Mexicans and Latinos? You realize Latinos are all races don't you. There are Latinos with African heritage. The same goes for Mexico. In Mexico white Mexicans control the economy.

I can assure you that Mexicans do complain. They also have every right to.

It's not respecting veterans. The anthem didn't even exist until the 1930s
