Tell me what wins Hall will have that will be better than Valencia’s or if Valencia will be lacking wins better than Hall’s and maybe I’m bias (much like yourself I’m sure) but I’m still not willing to concede it’s a forgone conclusion Hall is sweeping Bo Jordan this year.
Now you are changing the parameters of the conversation. Initially and continually my take was an undefeated Hall as returning champ is the first seed. I concur with you conclusion after your changed parameter. If Hall losses a match and Valencia is undefeated, Valencia will be the first seed.

Couple years ago Tommy Gant had a relatively weak schedule and was seeded ahead of 1 loss Nolf who was 1-1 with Martinez.

Valencia likely goes undefeated. BoJo has 2 losses and a couple potential dates with Hall. If Lewis runs the table I think he will be a 2 or 3 seed.

As an aside I think Lewis is a bad matchup for the big 3. Absolutely brutal on top.
Did I miss something? Lewis started the season at 157. Failed, supposedly by a lot, to make weight. Bumped up to 165 and was beaten by a talented freshman making his debut and somehow he is going to be a tough matchup for 174 pounders Hall, Valencia and Jordan.

Didn't Valencia beat Hall at the pre-season all star dual? I know it was a pre-season match but i think that would hold weight if both were undefeated going into nationals.

It holds sway in rankings but not seeding. If both undefeated, you have to go with strength of opponents, bonus points wins, returning place etc

Are you sure about this? I don't know, but am just wondering if there is some documentation. Is there somewhere they post the NCAA tournament seeding criteria? I thought they made the coaches ranking one of the main factors in seeding, so if the all-star win impacts the coaches ranking, it would impact seeding.

"Committee using the following selection criteria: head-to-head competition, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, rating percentage index, coaches ranking and qualifying event placement."

Nick Amuchastegu was an undefeated returning finalist that had pounded Ed Ruth the previous year, but was still seeded number 2 behind Ruth at NCAAs. Ruth was obviously better, but that's not really the point. Never know what the committee is going to do.

I saw that too, but that is for at large selections, right? If that is correct, for seeding too, Zahid would have a head to head win and a higher coaches ranking.

Depends on if they count them. All Star is unofficial and doesn’t count on the record. If that was the case, I think a lot of guys wouldn’t go if it hurts seeding.

He would most likely have a higher coaches ranking as I doubt they ignore the All Star result but it would not count as a head to head win since the All Star is only an exhibition match.

Here are the percentage values:

Head to head competitions: 25%
Quality wins: 20%
Coaches ranking: 15%
Conference tournament placing: 10%
Results vs. common opponents: 10%
Win pct. : 10%
RPI: 10%

You say with authority that the seeding committee will not count the All Star match as a head to head, but I don't see that stated anywhere. Yes, it isn't an official match for their official record, but I have a hard time seeing the people on the seeding committee ignoring it.

But, even if they do ignore that, past NCAA results are not on there. So, you would think that if both wrestlers win out, Zahid would have the upper hand this year because he will be higher on the coaches ranking.

Yes, I am positive they are to ignore any previous year or exhibition results. Only matches that are on their official record are to be counted. So, if they are both undefeated coaches rankings will indeed be a major factor in seeding since they won't have a head to head. Quality of competition will also be very big, but Zahid already has 2 matches with BoJo and another with Amine and also Lujan so he should at least even out with Hall on this criteria.

Twitter described that Foster did a little trash talking after the match and said warned and point deduction. The next tweet said team point deducted for unsportsmanlike conduct...

2-1 OT match

Lots of good scrambles
Heil petered out at the end of OT during a big scramble where he got a 2 count for danger on Meredith at the end of the period. Time ran out.
Went to 30 sec ride outs. Meredith rode out Heil, as Heil just laid there. Meredith got out and Heil sat on his knees playing fly swatter as Meredith just posted on the forehead.

Not a good look for a NC, but clearly the altitude got to Heil.

Brock got caught in the beginning of the match trying to force a inside trip down 6-0 he made a comeback but gassed a little at the end. Heil had no offense the entire match and completely gassed at the end he could not even stand. Moore was very lucky to squeak one out he gassed completely also. Wyoming was in better shape for the elevation they were at clearly, probably had something to do with training see what I did there;)

Yeah. Not sure why I got stuck on Reggie.

Daniel Lewis is a high quality wrestler. My opinion at this point in time is Mark and the Valencia kid are a bit ahead of BoJo, but those three are the head of the class. Over the next 3 months we will get to see though.

Thank goodness for wrestling and Christmas. Without the holiday and sporting season winter in my mind would be worthless.
