The McFadden kid looked real good, the match was not close as close the the score said.

I've known this kid since he was in second grade and he's a very talented kid. One of what I consider "new school" wrestler who is very smart and has a driven father who spent thousands of dollars every year on training and managing his career. He is very well trained.

The amazing thing is that this kid is very young for his grade, and was never held back. Almost certainly the youngest kid in the gym.

He is very slick and would be very difficult to beat by grinding it out.

Your right freestyle results mean nothing. You won't see any coaches at Fargo or junior duals. They don't go because it doesn't mean anything. It's not like the top guys in folkstyle are the same guys winning big time freestyle tournaments.
Feel free to give me your speech when Cory Clark gets leg-laced and tech falled in 17 seconds. Or let me know when Molinaro chooses down again. Either will do.

When did Clark get teched in 17 seconds? I remember colon teching him but it definitely wasn't from getting caught in a lace. Clark like most high level wrestlers is great in all three styles. I would say Greco is his best.

Molinaro should have gotten away.

He hammered Ryan not too long after that loss I wouldn't really go so far as to compare him to jeva either
Our 141-pounders (and ex-141-pounder):

Gross was #41 recruit from class of '14 (D1CW). Went 12-4 as a redshirt. Lost to Ryan 2-1 TB, Heil from OSU (4th NCAA '15) 12-4, Preston from Harvard (R12 NCAA '14) 6-5, Laster from Princeton (NCAA qualifier '15) 7-4. Beat Ryan 7-2. No signature wins. Ranked #26 141-pounder by WrestleStats at end of year.

Ryan was #72 recruit from class of '14 (D1CW). Went 22-6 as a redshirt. Beat Gross 2-1 TB, then later lost to Gross 7-2. Other losses to Mayes of Mizzou (7th NCAA '15) 5-2, Heil of OSU (4th NCAA '15) 8-1, Dolan of OSU (back-up) 4-3, Willers of UNI 5-1 (later avenging 12-4), and Meeks of ISU 5-3. No signature wins. Ranked #42 141-pounder by WrestleStats at end of year.

Carton was not ranked in top 100 in class of '12. Went 6-7 as a freshman in '13, 23-7 as a redshirt freshman in '14, and 12-4 as a sophomore in '15. Lost to Van Anrooy from Luther 4-3, Thorn from Minny 6-2, Port from Edinboro (2nd NCAA '15) 15-5, and Wright from Grand View by pin. No signature wins. Ranked #49 141-pounder by WrestleStats at end of year.

Grothus was #108 recruit from class of '11 (D1CW). Has been at 149 his entire collegiate career, going 19-6, 6-8, 24-12 (NQ), and 12-2 in his 4 seasons. Signature wins last season over Sorensen (4th NCAA '15) 3-2, Cooper (twice), Cobb of Penn (NCAA qualifier '15). Losses to Wilbourn of Lindenwood in OT, and Tsirtsis (1st NCAA '14, 3rd NCAA '15) in OT. Signature wins in '14 over Tsirtsis (1st NCAA '14, Kindig (2nd NCAA '14), Grajales (3rd NCAA '14), Habat (4th NCAA '14), but 12 losses and needed a wildcard to qualify for NCAAs. Has never made 141 in college but has certified there.

Turk was #67 recruit from class of '15 (D1CW). So on paper he's a mid-tier recruit like the others. Hasn't wrestled a collegiate match yet.

Happel is #25 recruit from class of '16 (Flo). He'll come in as the highest ranked 141-pound recruit of them all, but with less experience, and is a year from being in the room.

For comparison, Kemerer, although up a weight, was the #8 recruit from class of '15 (D1CW). Like Marinelli, he's a blue-chip prospect that you pencil in as a 4-year starter and hope will be a multi-time NC. He's in a different league, prospect-wise, than any of our 141-pounders. Blue-chip 141-pound recruits over the past 4 years: Kolodzik (#6 2015--PSU), McKenna (#8 2014--Stanford), Retheford (#3 2013--PSU), Anthony Ashnault (#8 2013, Rutgers), Tsirtsis (#1 2012--NW), and Cisneros (#6 2012--Cornell). Only the latter has flamed out so far.

Wish Iowa could've gotten the Prince brothers from down here in Florida.

Jared is at NAPS but just majored Durso and Grey and beat Preston. He'd be the best guy in the room at 141

Great breakdown Tarp. I hope Grothus gets down and dominates this year and Turk can separate himself next year. As for now I'm still a little skeptical.

McKenna beat Henderson yesterday at the Hokie Open proving how wide open 141 is. I knew McKenna was ranked way low, but didn't figure he'd knock off the #1 guy the first weekend.

McKenna is the real deal. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he won it at 141. I think 141 is totally up for grabs.

Joey's got nine extra pounds to handle for the college season. 141 shouldn't be hard for him to maintain (healthy) this season.
