Ouch

Very good commentary here 👍 We have a veteran team who had a chance to make a splash this season. Next season we go into rebuild mode with a much tougher schedule.

I really thought with the forced change at OC that Kirk would finally realize he can finish his career with a bang by playing a little more aggressively on the offensive side. His unwillingness to change puts Lester in a tough spot IMO.

And an entirely new offensive line…. That could be bad.

But, we’re used to it 🤷🏼‍♂️

It won't be all world, but if you can get a couple MAC guys with conference honors in there to compliment who Iowa has then it'll be ok.
Maybe a qb?? I'm sure kirk would give him an honest look...and then start the senior because he's been around even if hes worse.
Maybe have Phil make the qb evaluation since he's got the guts to play the BEST player.

A quality QB is nice, but you never know how that'll play out. I remember Iowa fans very happy with landing Cade. If I remember though Iowa showed interest in Connor Bazelak at the same time which fans groaned about. Turns out, Bazelak would've been the better option.

It's a real shame this guy gets paid to write. What an awful article!

When has Iowa ever been in rebuild mode? Like twice in 25 years? They'll be just fine

Exactly- Iowa could be just as good or better next year you never know with the transfer portal and if KF can utilize it properly and hope KJ Comes back for his senior year -

We have Sullivan who seems the right veteran guy to lead an offense breaking in a brand new offensive line. We don't want to get into a cycle of always shopping around in the portal for a QB. We did when we needed to with decidedly mixed results.

The article is spot on. It’s a shame some fans refuse to see the forest for the trees.

Oh well, just another season of Iowa winning 9 or so games.

Just a vicious cycle of success
You think Iowa will win 9 games in 2025 when playing at ISU, at Wisconsin, at Nebraska, possibly at Washington, tOSU, Michigan, PSU, USC, Oregon and in years after? Iowa isn’t playing in the B1G west anymore where KF can hide behind three possible non wins and the weak offensive teams of NW, Illini, Minny, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Purdue, especially with this continued weak passing attack.

They should be using the run game with screen passes to pull the lb’s to the flat then tight ends down the seam at the mid level then look deep with Wetjen or Brown deep. Make it easy for CM to make his reads or as you state, run the ball, have him run from time to time to keep the defense guessing as to what they are going to run. No imagination on offense.

He's wrong about Kirk peaking. He peaked in 2015. There is no tweaking for Kirk. When has tried He's failed but the real change on the offense and more aggressiveness will never happen.

Coors said it will be just "another season of Iowa being Iowa." Iowa being Iowa would amount to about 9 wins.

But no, I'm not afraid of future schedules. I think Iowa will be fine.

Have you emailed Lester your offensive suggestions?

A little less "imagination" vs ISU in the red zone would have been great

That seems to be the problem with KF and his offense. Doesn’t know when to do the right things at the right time, even after 20 plus years. I’d of rolled Cade out at the goal area to throw or run it in. Toss sweep to KJ too so he is in space on the outside to run it in. Why go for two up 19-0? Take the extra point and don’t give them any momentum after a score by making a stop. KF is offensively challenged and always has been. Always seems to zig when he should have zagged. And yes, Lester and I converse on a daily basis. 🙄

KF is NOT, nor ever has been the OC. He is NOT calling the plays.

The failed 2pt conversion was with the score 19-7, not 19-0. Although I don't love 2pt conversions, and think the analytics chart is overrated, the call to go for 2 was commiserate with the analytics. Basically, the idea is that at 20 or 19, 2 touchdowns beats you either way. Whereas, for it to cost Iowa the way it did took 3 scores. If there had been one longer possession in that time frame, ISU would not have had the time for the third score.

And although I tend to doubt it, the 2 pointer may have been Lester's call as well
