Our Favorite Guy

Is there a commentator we haven't complained about this year? Lol.

Outside of Duke Vitale, Bill Walton, and Dan Dick-itch, I don't really think any commentators are that bad. In basketball at least. Yes, Calhoun is hard to understand some times, but at least he doesn't elicit nausea.

Completely agree.

I like just about everthing he has to say regarding rhe game of basketball. Its legit and knowledgeable with out much self aggrandizment or shtick.

Hes just so damn hard to understand, its not so much the accent as the mumbling.

I cant figure out why espn hasn't realized the issue and done something to atleast make him louder.

Bill Walton is hilarious as long as you dont care about the teams playing the game.

I dont think I could take him doing a hawk game.

He said about Jordan, (paraphrasing) He is not the best player in the country but he is one of the best dribblers. He keeps his dribble low and it always takes him where he wants to go. He can get a good shot or get a good shot for someone else.

I thought that was interesting.

Walton is high most of the time. He has forgotten more about basketball then I will ever know but he often makes no sense. Please.

Could be an age thing. I'm older/middle-aged, and I've listened to whole half of Calhoun doing games and not understood a single word even with the volume cranked up. Not one word. His cadence and tone I can't hear. Period. Sounds like he's mumbling the whole time. I just end up turning down the volume.

My favorite analysts would be Fran Frischila, Bill Raftery, and then I really like Stephen Bardo and Shon Morris with the Big Ten Network. Frischila is the best in the business as far as I'm concerned. Bardo and Morris know the Big Ten teams very well.

Morris is excellent. He never lets his own bias interfere with reporting the game. And he understands the game so well. Guess his education paid off.

I didn't like Calhoun the first time I heard him, but I have come around. You can easily tune him out if you want, unlike some of the over-the-top guy that yell and make what they think are profound observations all the time.

I actually like Calhoun. The guy knows his stuff and brings some good insight to the games he is calling. Yes he is hard to understand, but what he does say coherently he is well versed. He just know the game. As far as Walton, I would love to have him do a Hawkeye game. He brings fun to the broadcast and his "I don't give a crap" attitude is refreshing. I think him and Pasch work well with each other, because I do like Pasch as a play by play guy. He knows what he is talking about. Should be a good broadcast Thursday with Reece and Jimmy Boy.

did you guys hear dakich singing 'thriller' during a game last night? i thought it was funny. he's a goof ball. was thinking some people from the HR board would be throwing dishes against the wall....

I gave up on Walton when he was doing an Oregon game and went into a rant describing some of Steve Ambrose's historical writings about how the West was settled. 24 points were scored in the game during Walton's diatribe and none of the on court action was described or talked about. That's not announcing and it is not funny. I don't enjoy hearing drunks or stoners talk whether it is Warren Beatty or Bill Walton. Walton is wrong more than he is right.

It's almost like you just have to stop focusing and you can't hear him at all, gets drowned out by the crowd noise
