With 3 weeks left in the season here are our opponents that can still win their conferences: Wyo, N Tex, ISU, P St, Mich St, NW, Oh St, & Wis.

That’s crazy with the season almost over & we’ve played this many top teams. Not just bowl eligible teams but 8 potential conference champion teams.

Our schedule as it stands now:

Wyoming 6-3 (2nd in MWC-M div.)
at #23 Iowa State 6-3 (t-2nd in B12)
North Texas 6-3 (CUSA West div. leader)
Coaches #13 Penn State 7-2
at AP #13Michigan State 7-2
Illinois 2-7
at Northwestern 6-3
Minnesota 4-5
#11 Ohio State 7-2
at #3 Wisconsin 9-0
Purdue 4-5
at Nebraska 4-5

*highest non-CFP ranking used (updated CFP not out yet)

How about that weak non-conference huh?.....;)

Nebraska, of all teams, might be the only team with a losing record that we play on the road. (Minn, at PSU, Iowa)

8 Bowl eligible opponents and 5 currently ranked teams including 3 that are, or were at some point, ranked in the AP/Coaches Top 5.

Bump....

According to Sagarin we have played the 9th toughest schedule in FBS so far this year. And this Saturday we play a top 10 team on the road. It's actually incredible that we're 6-3 right now and very well could only have 1 or 2 losses if a couple more things had broken our way. No one can complain about the schedule this year, not even Cowherd.

This year is outstanding prep for the next couple years with Stanley. If we win vs. Purdue, Nebraska and the bowl game we could be ranked headed into next season.

ISU win was lucky and a kick in Balz to ISU
PSU loss was a kick in balz to us
MSU we just got beat
NW game--> I think we got out coached and out-executed, that game we should have won.

I'm always amazed by the luck factor. How was Iowa lucky to win the ISU game? We're down two scores mid fourth quarter. Our young, inexperienced QB, in his first road challenge leads the Hawks too two scores to tie the game, and then the winner in OT. Numerous outstanding plays which belied his inexperience. Where does the luck come in? Luck has nothing to do with these games. In the PSU and NW games, we lost because we failed to make the key plays, to close them out.
