I could understand maybe an inch away, but not a foot and a half. Ridiculous.
Good grief. I agree with the OP. It's the end of the world.
I thought he was short by about a footNo excuse for that.
Except his right elbow hit and he was holding the ball in his left hand. You could make the case that his elbow hit first, and then an instant later the ball/hand hit the pylon. So they must have surmised that the ball was short when the elbow hit.
It did nothing but help us in the end, run a little more clock.
I thought he was short by about a footNo excuse for that.
And why no goal line cameras? Isn't that a spot on the field that might have some important calls?Exactly, and so did the refs. Unfortunately, the refs "thought" he was short too. Thats not enough to overturn.
maybe they had a different angle? The evidence against wasn’t indisputable based on the angles we saw. Yet...overturned!
Right...its possible they had camera views that the audience didn't...unlikely though. I'm glad it did not cost us the game. If it had we be dwelling on that for the next 6 months.maybe they had a different angle?
I had to sound it out lolAnybody else just look up incontrovertible?
I was under the impression they had the same angles available to them as the TV viewers did. Could be wrong though.maybe they had a different angle?
What's worse is not giving the MVP, Wadley the ball to beat the record when he is the only reason for winning the game.
It's first down and goal Hawks, make BC burn their time outs stopping Iowa from scoring so they don't have an opportunity to use them trying to score themselves to tie it.
Besides, w/o Wadley's all purpose yards, Iowa didn't stand a chance to win this game. Reward the young man for his time at Iowa with the TD and setting the record to basically end the game.
Correct. That single play had several all times Iowa records hanging in the balance. Chuck Long's 27 td's passing in one season. If overturned potencially Iowa could have handed off to Wadley, and that would have tied the record for most career TD's at 36 I believe. And of course if Iowa had failed to score after the overturn, and not won the game, KF doesn't tie coach Fry for the most career victories. Yes, there's always next season for KF and Stanley, but that was still a lot of interesting twists of the all time Iowa record book hanging in the balance on one call. And b/c of the (guess) call, Stanley doesn't tie Long for the Iowa TD record, right?
I agree that you win and die as a team. But there is absolutely no argument that Wadley was the main factor in this win. He was the calming presence when all else looked bleak for much of the first 3 quarters. And oh btw if Butler wasn’t there to push the fullback in he wasn’t scoring on that particular play
I like to think I'm a good Hawk fan but I also thought he was short even in the live play. Just looked short. Wasn't surprised when replay called it short. I thought his knee hit before he crossed the GL.I thought he was short by about a foot
The two field camera angles were set up down the left and right baselines, which unfortunately didn't help us at all in that goal line situation. It's pathetic to not have goal-line cameras
This Bowl is a joke just like their Field!!
This is what happens when you leave sports in the hands of pseudo lawyers. "Indisputable video evidence." What a joke. There was no "indisputable video evidence," but the call was overturned anyway. WTH?
