Freeman has shown to be the best inside rebounder, rim protector, and very efficient scorer, and absolutely needs more playing time.If Freeman continues to play well, then he ought to averages 30 mpg but he probably won't because
I don't think Fran will want to cut PT for PMAC or Krikke minutes much. Sandfort is best shooter and plus defender, so hard to keep off the court. It would seem Pryce Sandfort and Dimbele will probalby have their minutes cut in B1G play along with Harding. Harding is not shooting well.
The top7 is the current starters + Josh Dix and Freeman.
but from whom?
Payton Sanford. lets start with from whom not to take minutes, Payton Sanford, he needs to be in the court as his scoring is potentially game changing every night. Unfortunately he has been in 1H foul trouble in 2 IOWA losses, suggesting that he is over matched at the #4, exposed to fouls on the boards, which is what has happened and therefore playing him there for extended periods of time is proving to be , will prove to be a coaching blunder form Fran. Sanford must have +30 m/gm, this can only be best planned for with him playing the majority of his minutes at #3.
Everyone else can give some minutes to Freeman. If we assume that Freeman deserves +30m/gm, then we have a starting point and can work backwards
if we assume Sanford must be moved off the #4 spot, then Krikke can play 10m at C (when Freeman’s out) and another 20m at #4 with Dembele and Braun providing emergency minutes.
if Payton has 30 min/Gm at #3, then PMac, can backup here, and the guard play can be divided between Perk, Bowen, Dix, and Harding
there, that is how to maximize the value of Freemen in the remainder of 2023, of Freeman excels, then this is the model for 20w4, if he struggles, then you can adjust accordingly, but with out question, optimizing Freeman’s contributions on both O and D, must take place for Iowa to maximize its chances of winning
