P.S. Chittum is a Hawkeye. . . . . .

I don't think it's a bad thing either but Riggins takes a ton of shots and can do so from ties or space. If you twisted my arm, I would probably compare him to Brandon Sorensen. I just think Riggins has the potential to put more bonus up than Young just because he seems the most comfortable when he is in on shots.
i had DSJ in mind personally

I am going to ask you politely, yet firmly, to please cease and desist lol
Whose forum are you visiting?

TIA.

I get it. You guys are butthurt losing your best commit in years. And losing him to Iowa just heightened the pain.

Good luck staying ahead of MSU and Purdue in the middle of the B1G.

All meant to be in good fun. Tbh I feel pretty good about some of our other recruits, but losing Chittum is a huge blow. He’s going to be good!

Congratulations to the Hawks on some strong recruiting. I think Chittum's style matches well. He should be a great Hawk. Hope he can remain healthy. Looking forward to some good team races. Spencer, Warner, and big Cass against RBY, C-star, Brooks and Dean should be a battle of the supporting casts. Throw in tOSU and their stellar recruiting class and I am looking forward to November and the season. Arizona and Minni are also in the mix with some studs. College wresting is in a great place.

Any updates on if the Gophs have any more recruits or wrestlers worth poaching?

I realize it's likely slim pickings.
I always counted on you being the resident insider on all things goof/clone related, Mitch… I think you follow them closer than most around these parts. Lol

Who are Minnesota’s studs and what exactly are they in the mix for?

On a serious note (not sure if you actually wanted an answer but providing one anyways)
125 - Troy Spratley - top 15ish recruit class of ‘22, just won US Open and narrowly missed world team. Couple decent wins recently including over Jesuroga
133 - Aaron Nagao - former Cali state champ who grey shirted and is now coming off redshirt, U23 world team member
141/149 - Tagen Jamison - coming off greyshirt, Fargo champ with recent wins over ISU recruit Casey Swiderski and Chittum
184 - Max McEnelly - ranked 8th in class of 2023, wrestling at cadet worlds in Rome this week
197 - Gavin Nelson - ranked 19th in class of 2023, previous world team member and who’s #1 participant.
Very excited for all of them to start! Definitely an improvement since the Gable/Brayton/McKee class in 2018.

I read your boards and I realize you take a lot of crap for being realistic, not some "homer".

I'm kinda amazed that the Gopher fans don't have higher expectations given the monumental fall in stature from the Robinson days.

Personally, I didn’t really start following college wrestling until about 2018/19 because I was in school until then. This current state of Gopher wrestling is all I’ve known. Obviously, our better days are behind us, but things seem to be trending a little back towards relevancy since the drop in prowess after JRob.

Thanks. I enjoy your posts so don't take this the wrong way.

Not sure a couple of HS kids are going to do much for MN this season. The other guys look solid to good but it's going to take a lot more than that to make Minny contenders. Are any going to start? I believe you guys bring back almost all your starters from 2021-22.

Ahh! I misunderstood the original message and thought we were talking solely about recruits, not about this coming season.
Yeah, our lineup will be mostly the same with Nagao taking over at 133 and Brayton Lee coming back from injury. Hopefully Nagao takes 133 to another level for us and McKee, Bergeland, Brayton and Gable can carry the rest of the team. Would be nice if Andrew Sparks can return as well, but he’s coming off a torn ACL and a broken bone in his face.

I imagine you're going to get bludgeoned for conversing with Iowa fans here?

Outside of Grappler6, we've seldom had Minnesota fans brave enough to come to this site.

Thanks for your objectively.

BTW: I dislike Gopher fans, so you'll notice I seldom miss an opportunity to "pile on". Don't take it personal.

Ok I get the Sorenson comparison although I dont think I was far off with KY. Im going to watch some more of his matches but I hope you are correct.

If you’re referring to being bludgeoned by fellow Gophs fans for being civil in enemy territory, I would hope they can build a bridge and get over it considering it’s just an online message board.

If you’re referring to being bludgeoned by Iowa fans on said message board, we’ll that’s just par for the course, I’d expect nothing less!

Is there any confirmed updates on GS returning?
What is the general consensus from Gophers of Eggum as coach?

You're not asking me, but I am wondering if this WWE stuff isn't developing like Steveson thought it might?

That said, he's gonna look like a clown after that farewell/shoes on the mat stuff last year.

Gopher wrestling has dropped to the 2nd tier with no chance of a top ten finish next year without GS.

Probably worth mentioning Woods in there since he should be competing for a podium spot.

Can Jamison bulk up to 157 for us?

No confirmed updates, but it is widely believed he’ll be back this year.

I would say the consensus on Eggum is that he’s underperforming. Him and his staff are good at developing wrestlers, Jake Bergeland and Bailee O’Reilly are great examples of this. No-name unranked recruits that turned into AA caliber wrestlers, but they have not done well enough recruiting at all. The move of Dustin Schlatter to RTC coach and bringing in Trevor Brandvold has helped that tremendously. He plays a similar role for us as Ryan Morningstar does for you.

I don’t like ISU or the Gophers but I do miss them being good and having exciting duals….. back in the day some of those duals were barnburners

good luck to the Goofers….,, you seem like a guy I could have a beer with 👊

Im calling for no more standing ovations for GS at Carver.

What weight he plans on going in college would have been a good question.
I’ve generally not been impressed with Bader’s interviews. Another good question would have been: during next year at HWC does he plan to wrestle mostly freestyle, mostly folkstyle or both.

You will be the one buying the beer, I'd bet.
