Padilla Offered by Georgia

So iowa's has become serious about expanding their talent evaluation competencies from DBs, linemen, TEs, and lbs to also include QBs? Just sign up the josey jewel of receivers and we'll be good to go :)

Boy I sure hope he’s true to his word. Would love to land a kid with that kind of an offer . Doesn’t happen often with qbs here.

We’ve gotten pretty darn good at recruiting and developing QBs the last 5 or 6 years. Lots of quality college players have been QBs on our roster.

Wow and just think few months ago some people here were complaining because he didn't have an "impressive offer list" and cause we whiffed on a few QBs before him.

Not that it really matters but be interesting to see with a Georgia offer if his recruiting ranking rises at all.
You know I was thinking that and figured it wasn't worth posting. There were people on here that criticized the signing.

Georgia has signed so many top QBs recently that you know some will transfer out. Hope it doesn't happen at Iowa with Mansel, Petra and Padilla lined up after Stanley.

Good point; we'll have to wait and see!

Unfortunately, I’d be surprised if it doesn’t. Someone coined it here a week or so as essentially free agency for QB’s. It’s a new era of college football with the new redshirt rule.

It’s actually a terrible time to go to Georgia as a QB right now. Pretty sure Fields will win hiesman when he gets his shot. Not to mention Fromm, they also already have a QB commit. Odd offer really but a good sign Iowa isn’t the only one who sees the talent in him.

Georgia's offer seems like quite a compliment to the Iowa staff's ability to find and recognize talent.

Georgia is just backfilling the position. Fromm will be a true junior and 3 year starter next year so chance to declare for pros. Fields is a high caliber underclassman who is the heir apparent. Georgia's current class has nobody committed so time to throw darts and see where they land. Someone has finally investigated Padilla's background and senior highlights. It would NOT surprise me if Padilla get another two big profile team offers. Still stays a Hawkeye. If only you could trade recruits like draft picks. 2 Georgia WRs for Padilla (just saying:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:).

Georgia liked him enough to throw him an offer. I'd say KOK knows what he's doing when looking for QB talent. Who knows Padilla might emerges as a star at Iowa. He has the intangibles.

Yeah but that’s not possible because people on here said he sucked.
Really?!?!?! From all the coaches that I know in the area he is the best QB prospect in the state. Recruiting sites feel it is Ty Evans who was committed to Arkansas and now to CU.

Yes and it's not the end of the world if one does. Guys want to win and they want to play. Say Stanley sticks around for his senior year, then the following spring Mansell and Petras battle for the job. Whoever doesn't get it might very well transfer. And it doesn't mean they are a quitter or whatever else people throw out there. It just means they want to play.

Stanley sticks around for his senior year. You said to say it. :)

Georgia is NOT a blue blood

Yes they are.
It might be debatable if they're a traditional blueblood. One thing that is for sure, is they've been probably the 2nd or 3rd best recruiting team over the last 5 years.

2019: 3rd
2018: 1st
2017: 3rd
2016: 6th
2015: 6th
2014:8th

They sure can get talent like a blueblood currently.

Georgia is as a much a blueblood as Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. Only reason they didn't win more post-WW2 is because of Alabama.

I think the coaching staff may have come to the realization that a higher caliber QB is needed to really be successful in today's pass heavy brand of football. I don't recall a QB room with this much sought after talent. Yeah we've had some good ones but it seems like they have really expanded their search to find higher ceiling guys than before.

Exactly!! I said it then and will say it again, I don't care about the offer list for any player the coaches see live and offer right after. He camped with us and instantly the coaches jumped in on him. I trust KOK and the other staffs evaluation of talent.

Too many facts. This board prefers unsubstantiated opinions.
