Padilla Offered by Georgia

Wow and just think few months ago some people here were complaining because he didn't have an "impressive offer list" and cause we whiffed on a few QBs before him.

Not that it really matters but be interesting to see with a Georgia offer if his recruiting ranking rises at all.
Yup, arm chair coaches, arm chair OC's and arm chair talent evaluators, we have them all. ;)LOL

It might be debatable if they're a traditional blueblood. One thing that is for sure, is they've been probably the 2nd or 3rd best recruiting team over the last 5 years.

2019: 3rd
2018: 1st
2017: 3rd
2016: 6th
2015: 6th
2014:8th

They sure can get talent like a blueblood currently.

It is debatable. To me, there’s no doubt on whether or not one of the winningest programs in college football history is a blue blood.

Boy I sure hope he’s true to his word. Would love to land a kid with that kind of an offer . Doesn’t happen often with qbs here.

Not true.
Wiegers; Stanley and Petras all 4 stars by at least one rating agency.
Tate had a Texas AM offer. CJB - Ole Miss. Wienke - Michigan. Rudock - Miami. Shimonek proved capable. Captain and crew have done pretty well in the QB department. KFs problem has been playing the wrong guy in 2001/07/12/14

His freshman class size at U of I might be smaller than his high school class size.

I think Cherry Creek HS has over 1,000 kids per class!

Alex arguably has the biggest game of the year tonight against Eaglecrest. Both teams are in the Cherry Creek district and both are 7-0. Winner of this game probably the most capable of downing the state’s perennial favorite, Valor Christian, famous for producing the McCaffery boys.

Good luck, Alex!!
You going to this game. Your analysis if you do?

Probably biggest game in Colorado high schools tonight

Spot on, @bigfridaynite. It was the biggest game in the state, but probably the worst game to watch if you want to see a lot of Padilla. Eaglecrest runs a wing option and threw the ball once or twice. The name of the game was ball possession because EC runs their quarterback behind three D1 linemen (Stanford, Colorado, and a center who can go anywhere including tOSU or USC).

Padilla was solid with the ball in his hands and did not make any mistakes, but he also wasn’t given the opportunity to throw deep because there was no opportunity for wasted plays. Cherry Creek had to possess the ball or else EC would take over and put together a seven minute drive. That said, Padilla has great zip on the ball. Not a Nate Stanley like cannon of an arm, but a precision laser. I think he was 10 or 11 of 15 for 125. Sorry for the fuzzy stats, I haven’t read a box score and didn’t listen to it on the radio. The only passes he missed were ones where he led the receiver and left in a spot between the receiver and the over-the-top or across the middle cover man and I think Creek had two drops. He was very efficient and can move a play forward with his feet, but mostly with the ball still cocked as he made his way to the LOS. As soon as he crossed the LOS, he heads for the stick for the most part.

If I was looking for a comparison (NOTE: These are NFL players, temper this with the fact that I am making this comparison based on the level of competition I have watched these players go up against) I would look at Kirk Cousin’s with his style, but he might have a zip that reminds me of Brees. Really tight spirals and he throws with what look like great mechanics for someone in high school. This is a big school with a lot of great athletes, but even more than that, this school has resources and funding, so I am sure Alex gets great year-round coaching.

If I wanted to IOWA to go pluck a couple of players off the field, I would take that EC Center and Dylan James, their quarterback. He played RB for Cherokee Trail before transferring and the kid is just a great athlete. He could play somewhere on the field for a major D1 program, but may end up at FCS given I can’t find a profile on him. Maybe an Air Force or Navy QB or back if he has the grades? I know little about him other than a few highlights and last nights performance. He did fumble a couple of times, but he is at a new school, new position, new coach and system for EC. I also think that the Creek TE, Brazile, should follow Padilla to IOWA and try to become a walk-on TE story. Kid can play football, find the end zone, and loves contact. Looks like he is trying to drum up some interest with FCS via his twitter and Hudl.

Really good game, though watching two very different styles clash with fumbles and missed field goals isn’t great football, especially if you don’t have a dog in the fight outside of a college recruit you are excited about. Even more excited about him now!
