Whatcha got? No more GDGD, so I'm going with Stanley under center, 3 WR bunch set of Easley, Young and Meerkat and Iowa RUNS that misdirection play to Wadley All the blocking action sets up one way (see Minnesota last year for go ahead score) and the QB does a bit of slight of hand and hands off the other way. Love that play!

Play action fake hand off to Wadley by Stanley then deep down the sideline to ISM to set the tone for the year with Iowa's passing game.

"Touchdown Iowa!"

Play action off of a outside zone look to the left. Short pass on the right to Fant that goes for a good gain. This will keep the DE on that side from crashing the line of scrimmage. Later that drive, you hit them with the inside zone to the right. The DE is playing contain by then (if he's any good) ... but then if the backside defenders overrun and they'll feel like they have to since the DE will be playing out a little more ... that will open up a beautiful cutback lane.

This is the correct answer.

As diverse and high flying as I want the O to be, nothing says tough football at the very first play of the game like a run. o lineman ready to start the road grader right off the bat and set the tone! So Iowa runs the ball the first play of the game then opens up the new shinny play book.

When you have what is supposed to be a Cadillac offensive line with two really good running backs behind them and a young QB with unproven WRs going against a not very good defense, you run the damn ball down their throats to establish your pedigree.

Showing them who the boss is early on with the run game will open up the passing game. Sure it isn't sexy, but it is the right thing to do to build confidence with the younger QB and WRs. Giving up an early interception or two could really give Wyoming confidence and take the wind out of our sails, which we saw in our opener last year is a bad thing. Get an early three touchdown lead and then we can really open up the offense to test things out before putting in the backups. I'd love to see us get enough of a lead to put the backups in for the entire fourth quarter.

It will be a run. BF to set the tone and having the linemen pound away. Let them know who is going to own them all day long.

Stanley in shotgun with Wadley, Vandeberg & Young wide on each side, Easley & Fant in the slots. Wadley motions out to the side with Fant and Young (right side), Fant runs a 3-5 yard curl, Young runs a deep post, and Wadley runs an out pattern and is hit with the ball in the flat before turning it up the sideline for a 75 yard score. Stanley's confidence is beaming and he goes on to have a spectacular year starting at QB, never looking back.

Optimistic: Shotgun, no play action. 75 yard strike to Young.

Pessemistic: Run with Wadley, he fumbles, out for the year, Butler recovers and fumbles, injured badly, Pekar picks the ball up and runs to the wrong end zone for a safety.

Realistic: Wadley hits a right side hole for 9 yards.

Everybody and their dog knows it will be a run. Nice play action to ISM for a gain of 35 yards.

Hook-and-lateral. Stanley fakes to Wadley, raises up and hits the TE on a short route over the middle, TE laterals to Wadley who takes it in for the TD. Not a bad way to introduce yourself as the new OC in town. ;)

Play action out of 2 TE, 2 WR, 1 back set. Hits Hockenson on deep crossing route.

I agree with the sentiment of establishing the run and flexing your muscles as it relates to the strength of the team. However, I'm also thinking about the development of the QB and the huge benefit in scoring on the first drive. Wyoming is going to be playing run against Iowa ... it's what they're going to bank on. Giving an inexperienced QB, an easy early throw is useful in developing the QB's confidence and helping him to find a rhythm.

Screen to Wadley would be the best call because you know the Wyoming DL will be charging hard on the first play of the year.

FB, 2 TEs, Zone Blocking, Stretch play to wide side of the field unless they audible then it will go to the short side of the field.

They will try to establish the run to be able to use play action to get the new QB some time to throw. I expect to see more screens, slants, outs & seam routes this year with a few more deep balls to keep the DBs honest

Going retro. Getting Wadley and Butler on the field at the same time. Let's go with the wishbone and double TE. 34 Crossbuck pass with just a simple dump pass to the TE just behind the backers who came up on run support. That's a fake dive to the FB to the left (1 hole) then a fake to right with the right halfback (Butler) leading the way for the left halfback (Wadley) through the 4 hole (guard/tackle).

Play action tight end across the middle for 8-11 yards
Me likey! How long has it been since our TEs truly made opposing Ds defend the center of the field? MLBs could be aggressive with their pass-drops against us ... since we wouldn't try to throw over them. I love the prospect of probing the center of the field again ... and forcing the D to defend at every depth.

Take the field and as soon as the ball is spotted, line up no huddle, fake to Wadley, throw the bomb to new guy or Meerkat for a TD!!! That will happen, right? But wouldn't it be wonderful to see?!?!?

I think coaching staff know they can run with Wadley and Butler. I bet BF wants to get the QB off to a good start with an easy to complete short pass. Even if it is only a 3 -4 yarder. Then they can run it for the rest of the 10 yards on 2nd and 3rd down.

So I will guess that 2 WRs cross and Stanley hits the guy underneath crossing into the middle. Just like the 2 point conversion we ran against Michigan that CJB hit Falconer in both hands, which was dropped. He was wide open. They may even have Falconer be the target, even if he doesn't earn the starting job, just so he can exorcise that demon he has been carrying with him for 9 months.

Last year vs. Miami - LeShun 6 yard run
2015 vs. Illinois State - CJ to Meerkat for 5 yards
2014 vs. UNI - Rudock to KMM for 11 yards
2013 vs. No. Illinois - Bullock run for 4 yards.

Thanks, i saw 2012 vs. NIU - Vandenberg to KMM for 4 yards

means I'm going with pass to meerkat for 9 yards.

IMO I think we will be lucky to see Iowa throw the ball over 15 times the whole game.Run the ball keep clock moving and keep the ball out of there gunslingers hands don't need a shoot out.

That is what would happen on Tecmo Bowl.

Easy...victory formation and take a knee. It's BF chance to prove that it's his offense and he'll run whatever he wants. Next play, Wadley takes it to the house.

Iowa will run the ball at will against that defense. 250-300 yards team rushing
