This column is total garbage, aimed at stoking a racial controversy that does not exist. The columnist suggests that Bueckers is not as popular as Caitlin Clark was a year ago because she gets along with Black players and there's no so-called "Black villain."
I call BS. Clark set all sorts of scoring records at a school not known until her arrival as a national women's basketball power. Further, she was (and is) a floor general who makes her teammates better. She's competitive as hell yet remains humble off the court. She was, and continues to be, a great story.
The only "racial" component to Clark came when a brash LSU player attempted to hitch her wagon to Caitlin's popularity and mocked the Iowa star when the Hawkeyes lost. Caitlin Clark is the real deal. She will have a longer career than Angel Reese.
UConn star Paige Bueckers' lack of popularity in tourney has racial component to it, ex-NBA player suggests
