Rhoades is good.
He seems to lack some confidence out there though. When he wants to go and score, he can score with the best of them.
That 3rd period TD on Rohskopf was quality. No reason he couldn't have hit that the first two periods and beat Rohskopf.
Rhoades has the motor and skill to be one of the top ten guys. I'm sure of it. I think he just needs to believe that. You've got nothing to lose Rhoades. You're not ranked. Go and wreck some high ranked kids day.
He's probably gonna get meet a Jordan in the first two rounds at BIGs, but I think he does some damage on the backside to qualify for NCAAs. If he gets his head right, I think he could even be a round of 12.

Been saying this all year. He has the skills to be a fairly highly-ranked guy. Unfortunately, he doesn't have it between the ears. It's clear from the way he wrestles that he doesn't believe he has any business beating ranked opponents. Perfect demonstration of how important confidence is in this sport. It's often the difference between winning and losing.

It's frustrating to watch, because he seems like a great kid and a hard worker, and you want like heck for him to experience success. But he just doesn't believe. Gaining that confidence is obviously much easier said than done.

IMO, Carton and Cooper suffer from exactly the same problem. All three of these kids have the skills to be much more successful on the mat than they have been, but all three have yet to believe it deep down.

I honestly believe his ceiling is higher than whomever we send out at 141 and 157, but have my doubts that we'll actually see him reach it.

Sadly, I think you're right, 1st. Sometimes the "light bulb" goes on when you least expect it, but odds of that happening between now and Big Tens are probably on par with getting struck by lightning. Would love to see it, for Patrick's sake.

Rhoades has never shown that he's "good." He may have some nice qualities but there's nothing in his history/results that says he's a high level D-1 wrestler.

He has spurts of "good" when he wants to.
Overall, I'd say he is a good wrestler who with the right mental adjustment can beat a Rahskopf type of guy
His record is a reflection of his lack of confidence and facing off against some very tough competition.
