Just my opinion, but I think the term "Patriot" has been totally misused over the past 25-30 years.

Well, Antifa actually landed on the beaches of Normandy just a little over 78 years ago, and did a sensational job. I have never heard of any arguments countering their accomplishments, other than a handful of malcontents and sore losers.
It seems that they have been given a bad name in recent years, though, by those who would seem to want to smear them. I have no idea why, though, unless they have ulterior motives.

It is a bit funny the white supremacists were arrested for breaking a law that was mainly passed to arrest unruly blacks during the civil rights movement.
That, in my opinion is where we went off the rails. It all began with the Tea Party “movement” which maniacally manifested right after his election. It was loaded with complete idiot politicians and followers along with ridiculous antigovernment conspiracy and a ton of underlying racism and at its very core was this idea of “revolution” against the government. Having Obama as the scary boogeyman was great for the recruitment and escalation and the beginning of what is now the largest cult of knuckle dragging, conspiracy believing, anti intellectuals our nation has ever seen.

There are multiple pictures of them without masks being loaded into vans.
It is almost like there was a multi-step process to unloading, cuffing, and transporting the 31 people.
I've heard this kind of stuff from relatives and co-workers before. Everything that goes on in day to day life is some government conspiracy, from economics to covid to food shortages to Ukraine, etc. etc. Look it up on the internet, don't trust any media outlet you've actually heard of before. The only way is for good old Americans to fight back....It's just exhausting and unending, if you prove one thing false they just move the goalposts.
I've been saying for years now that the Democrats should just hand out American flags at every political rally until they run out of fabric, pepper every speech with about a dozen references to "patriots". The right, and especially these type of nuts don't deserve any type of ownership over these things.

Thesw idiots that just got arrested though aren't the point. The point is a government that can arrest people on what they label as conspiracy and the crossing of state lines as if that elevates anything. Charged with conspiracy can mean literally anything and crossing state lines makes it seem like the government has the authority to restrict movement between the states. Is the crime worse if I drive across the bridge from davenport to rock island? What extra has happened if I do that related to the underlying crime? Nothing. Nothing is different except the government placing a false representation around travel. In this case is it illegal for them to go protest a gay pride parade? No. It isn't. And yet we have them calling it conspiracy to riot. How truly chilling even if I think that then going to protest a gay pride parade is beyond disgusting on their part. Literally anything can then be classified as a conspiracy to riot. It isn't ok.
Like I said earlier I hope there is more there than what this appears to be initially. I hope that there is actual criminal behavior beyond these people wanting to act like assholes.

As a liberal, I'm not usually anti-government, but the Patriot Act is one of the biggest theft's of our right to privacy by the government and all of you just gave it away. Same with TSA and airport security. Some level is reasonable, but not the BS we have to go through at airports.

Good post. Funny how they can arrest these guys for "conspiracy to riot" without having any proof other than they were dressed alike. Meanwhile, you've got people protesting outside of supreme court justices houses, actually breaking the law that go unpunished. In fact, the government has encouraged it. What we have here is selective justice. It's fanning the flames of devision and needs to stop
